Woodley's fence grabs (GIF)

Not nearly as blatant and significant compared to Aldo vs Mendes

I don't see a grab in either of those gifs, I only see him pushing off the cage.

Didn't the judges actually give Maia a round? I thought the official call was 49-46 woodley?

So if you have Maia two points it would be 48-47 Maia.

49-46

2 points away from Woodley for fence grabbing = 47-46

Round would have ended 9-9, if your opponent has been taken 1 point away doesn't mean that it gives you the round. 10-9 = 10(-1) - 9 not 10(-1) - 9(+1)

No, it would be 47-46 Woodley. Rounds would become 9-9 not 10-9 for Maia.

Not sure if they made a difference in the long run, but I'm still gonna post it because Woodley still felt the need to cheat against a 40 year old BJJ guy that's built like a librarian in comparison to him and should be shamed for it

I'm sure that's racist somehow...And whatever you do, don't say anything negative about Jones or people on here lose control LOL

Actually, that gif doesn't have the worst fence grab and the only one I thought played a major factor in Woodley defending one of the TDs against the cage.

I forget the round but led directly to Woodley sprawling out with his back near the cage then he got Maia's back and then was able to disengage.

Other than that the fight was a TDD clinic but Woodley had already been warned and for situations like that it could've been deemed to start them back in the original position.

Here's another one, not sure if it's the one

How about 3 points?

If they really want to stop that shit, just make the penalty having to start in the middle of the cage in bottom-guard.

MMA refs are terrible...they very rarely take points for repeat breakage of the rules...eye pokes, low blows, shots to the back of the head....and fence grabbing...rarely result in a point deduction.

Just enough fence to make Maia lose heart in the attempt.

Only recent example of a ref in the UFC deducting a point for cage grabs that I can remember. Last one before that I clearly recall is Tito/Rashad.

Omg that made the difference in the fight?!?!?!....

...no, we all saw Tyron immediately get up and/or nullify all wrestling attempts from Maia.

Tyron wins 9999 out of 10K, but holy fuck did that fight suck

lol the gif shows 2 fence grabs

what happened the other 19 times Demian attempted a TD?

Grease ;)

Nah Demian lost fair and square. I wanted him to win but couldn't get it done. Still a nightmare matchup for loads of folk. I felt he pushed forward more than Wonderboy did and with far less striking proficiency.

Forget points, any fence grab to defend a TD should result in the ref stopping the action and restarting them on the ground.
Take points also if they keep doing it, but give the fighter the TD they have earned.
I actually am a big fan of this. No points need to be given if you automatically award the position.
