Woodley destroys Mai

latest

Woodley will knock Maia out in the first round, I guess the UFC is running out of contenders to fight.

And Mai doesn't possess the skills to do that no matter how hard he tries. His striking is awful, and Woodley has awesome TD defense. You guys totally forget that he used to be a one dimensional grappler.
This is a terrible fight honestly. I have no desire to see it.
I am not convinced that Maia beats Woodley. But I still want to see the fight.

Woodley vs McGregor is being negotiated as we carry on. It is the fight that has a better chance of prolonging Conor's stardom.

It is too risky for Conor to fight Khabib or Ferguson. That is why we are not hearing about Wonderboy, and Maia is starting to talk, because he realizes things are changing and he may miss his chance.

McGregor set up his fight with Woodley and maybe Khabib at UFC205.

He doesn't use TD's tho, he closes distance grabs and backpacks like he has done with ease against his last many opponents, I know Woodley is a different animal but Maia get's back position first he doesn't get TD's to bring his opponent down.

He does utilize doubles and singles. But you're right that he takes guys down with different positions and areas from more of a BJJ style TD's and sweeps. He is clever and crafty which makes him effective against a lot of guys. This is Tyron Woodley though. A bottom and top heavy guy that is stronger than an ox at welter weight. I think he trains well enough, and prepares himself to deal with and time those attempts by Maia. We know that Woodley batters him standing. All that Maia can really do there is slap at Woodley and throw those weird angled strikes that you'd only see on Bloodsport or some old martial art strike in a movie. I see this fight going a lot like the Rory Macdonald fight against Damian Maia with Woodley being really careful and keeping a distance while picking him apart on the feet. He'll just pick his shots and be really careful at getting close to him. I'd love to see Maia take his arm off though.

Nothing would make me happier than Woodley going through and dummying the top 5 WWs in a row because that would mean that he actually stepped up and fought them instead of trying to talk his way into ridiculous fights against irrelevant fighters at WW.

I hear ya, but at the way he ducks and dodges everyone that would end up being 6 years before that finally all happened. <{jojo}>

You honestly think Woodley is an easier match up then khabib and ferg? What's the logice there?

I think Tony Ferguson is the easier match up. Tony gets hit. A lot. But Tony is a BJJ specialist with excellent cardio. Then there is Khabib. Conor has one shot to take Khabib out. If he doesn't, he is getting taken down and smashed.
The biggest challenge is Woodley. If Conor presses forward with intention to finish, I think the fight is up for grabs. Woodley is afraid of getting KO'd. He would rather lose by decision than get KO'd. I can see that fear in the way he fights. But if he touches Conor, Conor will be stiff arm KO'ed.

Woodley is the best fight because there is more to gain than to lose. Plus, the loss already has a pretty good excuse. If Conor loses to Woodley, he still has another big payday in 155.

If he loses to Khabib or Fergusson. What's next? An obvious immediate rematch (if the fight is competitive) and the Diaz trilogy.

The walls are closing in on Conor.

agree with you all the way except the last part. I dont think Woodley can play the pick apart game or if he has the skills to, specially with Maia ready to take him down. And Woodley is like the guy who rushes in to strike (1 punch is enough for Maia), so Maia may have a lot of td opportunities in there. Anyway, a good fight. I would give both 50/50, and Im a Maia fan.

C'mon OP, of course he would destroy your mom. She's 50. And South American. And supports you. Cards are stacked.

If you are a Woodley fan, this is the fight you want.

Anti Woodley folks are in for a huge rude awakening. Woodley is his worth match up by far. He'll starch Mai on the feet, and Mai aint getting him to the ground.

I don't want Woodley holding on to the belt personally. He's awful holding the belt, but he'll starch Mai and it won't even be close.

Unless it goes to the ground, then Woodly gets starched. Wooly is shit on the ground. I have to say his last fight was his best, but if he didn't have a huge punch he would be in Belator. I thought he was going to kill W/B but at the end it was an equal fight. Tyron has a great simple neck choke, but can't hold it long with all those natural muscles. Also, he comes in huge when he is not confident, and looked 30 pounds heavier than Thompson. I don't think Tyron wants Maia, it could be over in 2 minutes, either way

Woodley would get raped. He would wonder afterwards if he should just retire. Maia is that much better.
