Wooden Squat Rack Designs

ITS DONE!!!

Just so you guys know, the support on the botton is wedged so tight in between the two peices of wood, the bolts dont need to be completely bolted down.

just curious how much it cost to build that.

It looks great Zhang. Glad to see the 4x4s. Better safe than sorry.

Awesome, thats nice work. Your shed looks like a clusterfuck though. I think id be to Claustrophobic to squat in there but best of luck

nice job. Im making one of these soon with some scrap lumber I have.

Huntos suggestion for the taller support for the rear half portion of the 'wedge' was right on IMO. Couple of other things I would adjust if I were you, though. Not sure if its necessary but a heavier right angle bracket at the bottom may offer more long term durability. It looks like its plenty reinforced with the safety rails, but any side to side, or front to back movement with heavy weight could loosen them.

The other adjustment would be another 2x4 above the two diagonal supports in the rear, tying the two uprights together.

Just my humble opinion looking at the picture, I may be wrong. Good work though looks nice and clean.

looks good, man, but where's the hotrod flame job?

Theres stuff hung on the ceiling too!!

@gogoGomi: u try drilling through 2 4x4's with a hand drill. Its probably EXCELLENT coniditioning:)

Also, im going to add one more support in the back. Even so, right now, its extremely stable, doesnt move at all. I jumped from one side to the other with barely a quiver. Those brackets are not just aluminum, they're like 1/8 inch steel.

Zhang,

Does the cross-support that lays across the diagonal beams interfere at all with the position you take when you unrack the bar on your shoulders? It seems like it might get in the way of bent knees, but I can't tell how high the rack position is.

I'm going to be building something like this soon for my west philly basement gym. :)
