I've always wondered what do their families think when their girl chose to become a fighter? Do they feel like they've become a failure as a parent or are they satisfied with their career they've chosen?

How do they feel watching their daughter, mum or other female members of the family/relative getting beaten and leaving their fragile bodies permanently damaged?

What is the difference between a Man and a Woman fighting, both have family and friends that love and care about them. My family is heavily into combat sports. My grandfather, both my uncles and two of my brothers have all competed at an amateur level and my father was a pro kick boxer. Every single time I watched them fight I cried. Whether they were winning or losing it didn't matter. Seeing a loved one enter a ring or cage is hard and something I couldn't get use to.

Their families disown them after they see how uncoordinated and unskilled they are.

It pretty much turns into a Madonna/Cyndi Lauper music video from the 1980s.

Well I know a gal that had to go on maternity leave instead of defending a title. At least I think it was a woman, everything else would be ridiculous. Right?

A lot of families seem to be supportive of their daughters learning a martial art from a young age. Ideally it means she'll be better prepared to defend herself if she needs to.

If she's good enough to compete when she's older, they also tend to be supportive due to the financial rewards. Remember, a lot of fighters come from poor backgrounds.

Really, gender doesn't come into it. Families are just as concerned about seeing their sons compete in a violent sport.

There is definitely more of a stigma against women fighting than there is men. I've known mums and dads to not like it because it's not ladylike and boyfriends to not like it because it can fuck up their faces. In truth though I think men get it off their spouses and parents too, just not to the same degree.

Great answer, sadly 90 % of posts are gonna still talking about crap instaed of learning from somebody close to the situation

i know a guy who got told by his dr to stop kickboxing, because he'd had several concussions. dont really see how gender comes into it. i'd personally hate to see anyone i like compete in mma or kickboxing etc

Why the fuck are you asking SD this question ?

Asking posters on a fan forum how family of female fighters feel about them fighting ???

It must suck to be their husband. You look like a wife beater when you are out in public together after a fight.
