A North Dakota woman could face up to 30 years in prison after police allegedly found bong water containing methamphetamine in her car during a traffic stop.

Police stopped Jessica Beske in Polk County, Minnesota, for speeding May 8, the Minnesota Reformer reported, citing charging documents. Deputies reportedly smelled marijuana when pulling her over and began searching her vehicle. Authorities claimed they found a bong and a glass container with a “crystal substance” and some other drug paraphernalia, including pipes, the Minnesota Reformer reported.

Deputies seized $2,400 in cash and Beske’s car, according to the outlet. The 43-year-old told deputies she won the cash at a casino the night of the arrest and had a tax form to prove it.

Deputies intend to permanently forfeit the seized items under a new state law allowing authorities to confiscate a vehicle believed to be used for transporting controlled substances that are “intended for distribution or sale,” the outlet reported. The new law also allows authorities to confiscate cash that represents “the proceeds of a controlled substance offense.”

Beske maintains that she did not have any drugs on her and instead only had the paraphernalia containing the residue, the Minnesota Reformer reported. A Polk County prosecutor charged the 43-year-old with first-degree felony possession, which can include a $1 million fine and up to a 30-year prison sentence, the outlet noted.

Under state law, eight ounces of bong water is equal to eight ounces of pure methamphetamine. The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled “bong water” as a “mixture” containing “25 grams [0.88 ounces] or more,” making its possession a felony offense in the state carrying up to “30 years in prison for a first offense,” according to Gallagher Criminal Defense.

Beske, shocked by the charges, said, “It’s against common sense. It’s against everybody’s common sense.”

That new law is fucked up totally unjust imagine getting 30 years for some meth tainted bong water smh alot or robbers , kidnappers, and the worst of the worst crimes alot of times don't get 30 years

er.... Kind of would like to know more about the "crystal substance".....

our legal system is stupid when it comes to consistency of sentences. WIth that said, facing 30 years is very different then getting 30 years. People get way less than they face all the time.

I thought only black people receive long sentences for drug possession. But I guess anyone can. I wonder if a liberal outlet will pick up this story.

Minnesota became the first state to legalize all drug paraphernalia last year. It also legalized the residue inside. Kind of fascinating don't you think? First they get you to drop your guard by making a big deal of the shit being legalized - but, they leave a loophole in the law so you can still be charged - then you drive around carelessly with your glass pipe and they arrest your ass, legally steal your car and all of your money. Lmao, you really can't let your guard down can ya.

Hooooooow fucking dirty did that bong have be for the resin to crystallize?!!

Nasty ass just huffing mold spores

That bong water is 75% backwash.

Nasty bitch

What was the crystal substance they mention and why did the bong water have meth in it? They glossed over that part pretty quickly. I feel like there’s more to it than that.

Stupid law but fuck methheads
People smoke meth. I have seen people smoking it out of a bong before.

She is guilty for having some meth residue but they are doing her dirty. It's residue and they weighed it with the jar and charging her for the total weight of around 13 ounces. The bong was also 8 ounces with the water.

This is sooooo fucking stupid.
” A testimony from a Minnesota State Patrol officer stated that bong water can be saved “for future use…either drinking it or shooting it in the veins.”
