WMMA Mount Rushmore

Shelby Walker deserves a mention as a pioneer. The talk was she was going to fight at UFC 51. It was probably based on looks and hype more than substance, but I think I can make a compelling case she was Gina before Gina (but not as talented).

Some additional shout outs: Roxanne Modafferi and Rin Nakai. Tara LaRosa, politics aside, deserves some recognition too. Mt Rushmore is more about pioneers or people who dramatically changed the world around them more so than GOAT status.

Although not a women, my fellow Hoosier and homeboy, Jeff Osbourne and his promotion HooknShoot, needs some lovin' too. He held the first all women's event and gave women fighters a spot on a men's card when no one else did.

My contribution is starting to look more like a WMMA wing in an MMA HoF instead of a Mount Rushmore, but, oh well. But I do like this topic.
 
Who's face gets chipped off the mount to make room for Dakota in a few years ?
 
We forgot about the OG women's pioneer, Erin Toughill.

Being that this is an entirely subjective thing, then, whichever you'd like.

I do hope Dakota lives up to the hype. WMMA is sorely sorely overdue for fresh elite talent.

I hope she comes to the UFC in time for a potential passing of the torch fight with Valentina. In truth Val is already past her expiry date, but imo good enough to still crank out another defense or two, in part helped by lack of talent to challenge her.

Anyone happen to know Dakotas contract status with PFL ?

With her functioning as a face of PFL to a certain extent and PFL having an established pattern of throwing money around in debatable irresponsible fashion I would not be surprised if they throw a pile.of money at her that Dana and his collection of doofuses choose not to match.

I don’t take this stuff too seriously. Mostly popularity contests, etc. But, being busted for PEDs, means.. You are disqualified from being a GOAT, or on Mt Rushmore.

So put whomever you want on there. But, in my books Cyborg is disqualified.

I'd note that Ronda's immense influence and star power contribute quite a bit, as I think you could argue Weili's 6-2 is a stronger 6-2 in terms of strength of schedule, but that could be countered with Rondas 100% finish rate and crazy short avg fight time with I think 5 of those 6 wins <66 seconds... regardless her monumental star power and likely Ronda being the reason there are even UFC WMMA title wins to be discussed seal the deal.

Mount rushmore before the faces were carved was truly one of the most incredible natural places.

It's beautiful cliffs were completely unpresidented.
 
Honestly Ronda and Nunes only names I see sticking. Plenty of room for new names. I don't see the others staying long.

I might have to keep that in my back pocket and break it out when my teenage daughters are with their friends just to watch them become overwhelmed with cringe/embarrassment.
