Signings/Scouting WMMA Discussion #29

Hello my friend Leto, how are you, I hope that everything is okay,

I just wanted to ask you, I don't follow WMMA at all, and is somehow not educated on this matter, who is according to you the next P4P female fighter with the most potential ?

Which countries are at the top at WMMA ? Is it different than from Men MMA ?
As far as countries go, there’s USA, there’s Brazil, and then there’s everyone else. Japan has a homegrown scene of their own, but they’re not competitive internationally, and most won’t even try.

As for who’s next upcoming p4p, I just don’t give credence to those discussions, because people either don’t have parameters of what constitutes p4p, or can’t agree. Many are saying Dakota Ditcheva, but I think she’s largely unproven against competition of note, and not finishing her last opponent doesn’t help, either. Some are excited about Harrison vs Nunes, but considering Nunes retirement and resulting 2+ years of inactivity, it does nothing for me as far as proving anything.

I would say Zhang vs Shevchenko will crown the new #1, but even the stock of both of them is not what it once was.

Usually the fight announcements come on Tuesday. The big boxing event must have TKO distracted

Maycee can still fight
This is an odd matchmaking too the UFC seem desperate for Barber to get a win, the media jumped her up the rankings last week since she's only pulled out of a fight this year I guess she's earned it <lmao>

ufc this week i'm going for the elder in the matchup, so:

rendon with veteran guile (maybe. she is slow as molasses)
lemos by ? her last one against lucindo was a stinker so i honestly don't know

both mckenzie stiller and cheyanne bowers won their fights by 1st round sub. stiller could do with a couple more fights, but i think bowers would do fine at ufc flw

Tatiana eeked out the win but it was sad and doesn't inspire confidence in seeing her in 5 rounds or as a next contender. Maybe her and Loopy fight next then we have the next.
Lemons stopped more tds here then vs Virna and Zhang is she getting better there or Tatiana just not good enough?

Rendon had that Mexican fighting spirt, Pereira needs someone who really can't take a punch like Chandler next

Pretty clear that Tatiana is washed up, was a 'dominant' win (for 2 rounds anyway) against a 'dangerous' opponent (though I've always felt that Lemos sucks, but that's significantly coloured by my (fully justified) prejudice against Brazilian roidbeasts) but she's clearly not got it anymore and won't be champ. She can still knock off girls with weak wrestling (which is quite a lot of them tbf), especially those that don't have Brazilian strength, doubt she does much smeshing of them though.

@leto1776 next time you kick some of that WMMA $cene oligarch money to Maritza make sure it comes with the qualifier it must be spent to 'go to Dagestan 3 years and forget'.
Tho I'm not sure Dagestan would be the place to set up camp for a lady. Where's the female combat sport Dagestan? Japan?... they are pretty behind in MMA though so, no... hmmmmm....
wait, she's fighting out of Cali isn't she? That means training with the Great One herself could be just a short step away...

iirc on comms Maritza was training out of TAM

watching the ufc fights back now, damn these early cards

apparently Alice Pereira got signed because she wore a t-shirt asking for Mick Maynard to sign her? lame. plus comms mistook her for Aline Pereira, Poatan's sister, what a mess.

Rendon was quicker than I remembered, but still suffered from the same lack of cage cutting that seems to plague most Mexican fighters. her win was well deserved regardless.

Suarez vs. Lemos *might* have been better as a 5 rounder, it got interesting once Suarez gassed. not gonna lie though, I don't care to see either fight for the belt again.

3 straight for Ana Liang since getting cut from UFC, all by finish.

Apparently Vanessa Melo blew the weight for her fight against alanah Cookat BTC fight, but Cook got it done.

Surprisingly Maritza didn’t reach out to me this time. That’s okay, as once she hooked up with Iridium, the sponsorship fees skyrocketed.

Disappointed in her performance. Bowers is no joke, but I didn’t expect a second straight first round sub loss for Maritza.

Rematch of Saori Oshima vs Moeri Suda from earlier today. Oshima won via sub in the first fight in 2022.

Crazy fact: this was Suda’s 13th fight since their first bout in 2022!

Even though i understand her happiness for winning (and the failure of Vanessa Melo of doing her contractual obligations)... I can't really take that rant serious since Melo is basically a jobber these days...

Sure, but it’s the biggest win of Cook’s career, and best name on her resume. She’s only 5-2
