Signings/Scouting WMMA Discussion #29

silva v. andrade was great, 50k well earned :)

the fingers in the glove between jacque amorim and vanessa demopoulos was pretty egregious - reckon vanessa has a case with NSAC?
Seeing the ref and commentary just dismiss it I don't see nsac doing anything if Vanessa even pushes it

UFC Fight Night

Natália Silva earned a UD over a tough Jéssica Andrade. Silva looked fast and her quick kicks to the head and body proved decisive. Glad they both earned bonuses for fight of the night!

Jaqueline Amorim got a second round arm bar submission Vanessa Demopoulos. Amorim looks like she'll be in a championship fight at some point. Extends her record to 6-0 in the UFC.

At Bellator I watched Sumiko Inaba TKO Mackenzie Stiller in round 3. Fun fight that actually went back & forth until the finish.

Fight of the Night: Natalia Silva def. Jessica Andrade. Natalia Silva def. Jessica Andrade, UFC Fight Night 242. Natalia Silva def. Jessica Andrade via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27). In the co-main event, Natalia Silva kept rolling in the women’s flyweight division with arguably her biggest win yet – against ex-strawweight champ Jessica Andrade (26-13 MMA, 17-11 UFC).

I must be missing something with Amorim. That performance against Hughes made me a doubter for life I guess.

I think jacque was pulling guard on sampage in that fight, pretty sure ATT ironed out that wrinkle in her game. since then jacque has gone on to beat 3 smaller people in a row: montserrat ruiz, cory mckenna and now vanessa demopoulos.

in other news, vanessa will appeal the glove grab after all: https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/2024...e-spaude-illegal-glove-grab-submission-armbar

Is Diana Avsaragova still fighting?
She's probably spending all her time admiring the reflection in the mirror (at least, that's how I'd be spending my life if I was her). Indeed looking at her last few fights she probably was doing that already.

She had the potential to be good at MMA, it's a tragedy her disability prevents her from attaining her true potential at a human cockfighting
<{1-11}>

idk...
It looks like it's something with bjj turned MMA fighters I guess...

Amorim
Talita Nogueira
Michelle nicolini
Talita alencar

They seem to all have the same cardio issue.

maybe Brazilian BJJ fighters are particularly bad at it (because they have a double dose of Brazil?) but in general I just call it 'Brazilian Cardio', common trend especially outside of the UFC ;)

I have a feeling that Grasso is winning tomorrow in a decisive way, and I don't like it. Honestly, I truly like both of the ladies and wish them both the best of luck, but my heart is with Valentina. I hope Shevchenko can prove my gut wrong, and win that belt back... But this whole ordeal benefits Grasso and puts Shevchenko at a disadvantage.

As the older of the two, Valentina doesn't have the time to spare to be taking a year long layoff. They shelved both of them just so that they could have Grasso in this card, which is once again: Mexican themed. Valentina needs to finish Grasso, otherwise the odds of messy judging are HIGH. They screwed her over (and the division) by having them host TUF, and they screwed her over by having her fight on this specific card (they made her believe it wouldn't be a Noche UFC event). Let's go Tina, do this for your legacy.

I'm taking Dumont over Aldana. Aldana has been in wars and has proven time and time again, that she's just a head hunter. Dumont looks very healthy, she's light on her feet, and will more than likely make this a boring fight. Aldana wants to exchange? She's gonna get kicked and pushed back or clinched/taken down and stalled against the cage/floor.

Healthy, fit Dumont by decision.
