There are definitely some good nominees for year end awards.
Submission: Zenny Huang Imanari choke, Olga Rubin buggy choke, Grasso RNC over Shevchenko
KO: Yan over Andrade, Stamp over Anderson or Ham, a couple in PFL
Fight is likely Aldana vs Rosa, with Maritza Sanchez vs Elina Kallionidou being the week before.
Prospect is tough. Chihiro Sawada, Maritza Sanchez, can think of a few other
 


Gotta look this Brazilian chick up, because I have zero confidence in someone whose nickname is a variation of “Ronda.” They might be setting Bannon up for an easy win here

Lauren only value is as a stepping stone for younger talent anyways, if it wasn't Karine it be vs Natalie or Casey. But I wouldn't be surprised if Lauren somehow grinds her way to win she's overcome odds more often than not.

Huh Zhang gets hit way more than Suarez. What you mean not as defensively sound. Even was she was dealing with nerve damage against Nina she wasn't getting hit clean.
 
It's not MMA, but I think this is worth a look so that everyone has an idea of what striking looks like at the top level. Anissa Meksen vs. Phetjeeja is a clash of the best in kickboxing & Muay Thai, we have contrasting styles on display and they're both highly effective. Note the footwork, head movement & how both fighters can hang around in the pocket and bang out combos without getting knocked out. Also note the immediate retaliation whenever someone gets hit along with how clean & fast the strikes are. Either one of them would mangle everyone in their divisions if they had Joanna level TDD.

We've had a lot of talented world champion strikers in MMA like Joanna, Loma, Germaine de Randamie, and the Shevchenko sisters, and it's been fun watching their journey in MMA. However, this is a reminder that it does get better, and there's still significant room for improvement with regards to striking in WMMA.

Do you think Meksen would have won if she hadn’t come in rusty, or was it more the clash of styles?

I think Phetjeeja is just that damn good. Her head movement & distance control was good enough to make Meksen miss a lot more than usual, and she was skilled & confident enough to get in and trade hard punches with her. Most opponents start getting passive and fighting not to get hurt after Meksen hits them with a good flurry, but Phetjeeja was happy to bang it out and started doing better & better in the exchanges as the fight went on.
