Signings/Scouting WMMA Discussion #29

If Combate goes bankrupt then MMA is truly over. Nice knowing ya, was a good run
[omg1]

The only thing that could possibly be worse is if the UFC cut Kanako Murata. Going to bed now, if I wake up and see that (haha! wouldn't happen, they aren't dumb there) I might hijack a plane.

This isnt the usual account that tracks these, so might not be 100%

Apparently the girl Parkmis fighting is 2-1 according to fight finder, and got choked out by “the arm collector” Anita Karin. Apparently DEEP want to see Park catch a body

Conejo gets a new contract, I remember Cifers' management boasting about her new contract, right before she disappeared off the face of the planet for ever.

Taila Santos, why? Can't be the "not paying her sparring partners" rumor, Dana would surely have some sympathy with that.

Murata decision is disappointing if true, not enough to put yourself on a no fly list though

It makes sense to get that deal inked if the UFC really wants to save a fight where the opponent is coming in way overweight. In cifers case she was even sent into a flyweight bout.

Combate going bankrupt aswell?
More like they’re just trash overall. I believe the original reason for cutting three straight weekends of events were “production issues” at Univision Studios. Who knows for the rest. It was enough for one fighter I stay in contact with to ask out of her contract. Says they’re the worst to fight for.

135 is such a disappointment. I can't remember the last fight I was excited for.

We saw it very recently with Flyweight: It takes time to build a division. They signed a dozen bantamweights this year, some of them even fought each other already. It'll take some time for them to emerge as contenders, but the seeds have already been planted.

With a title fight FINALLY scheduled for January, along with Germaine looking to fight again soon, and the influx of talent they signed this year, bantamweight should be gearing up for a good year in 2024. Heck, Mayra Bueno Silva came out of nowhere and will be fighting for the title! Things are moving slow, but they're moving.

Aspen Ladd Replaces Julia Budd, Faces Kayla Harrison at PFL Championships

For the second time, a proposed booking between Kayla Harrison and Julia Budd has fallen through.

As a result, Aspen Ladd will step in a face Harrison at the 2023 PFL Championships on Nov. 24. According to a release from the PFL, the bout was changed because “Budd refused to fulfill her contractual obligation.” Further specifics were not given. While Harrison vs. Budd was to slated to take place at featherweight, the new pairing will be contested at a 150-pound catchweight. Harrison was previously scheduled to face Budd during the 2022 PFL season before the ex-Bellator champ withdrew from the bout.

Cool. More excited for this fresh match up. Expecting Ladd to be the underdog and as such will be rooting for her.

PFL is more baffling everyday to me. They announced Ladd advanced in the tournament, changed their minds mid broadcast. So I assumed they'd have booked Ladd vs Harrison right away and maybe Ladd turned it down and Budd was a second choice. Now it seems like Budd was the first choice dispit being lesser known and having suffered more losses in PFL.

But I agree Ladd is the better fight today and I would like to see an upset, I feel 150 puts her at more of a disadvantage here she must be huge that 145 is a problem in 15 days.

They just announced some random copromotion in Columbia for next week where only one of the bouts is with Combate fighters
