Signings/Scouting WMMA Discussion #29

feel real bad for hope chase - she was holding her own while grappling with bia mesquita until an unfortunate upkick. bia couldn't continue and hope was DQ'ed. hope's record doesn't look great right now but i still think of her as a great prospect.
Apparently, Bia Mesquita isn't taking that W so well:

i think bia was expecting to run through hope without much resistance and got a rude shock

One could easily argue she held her eye closed to get the easy DQ win

maybe, but i still think eye injuries are bad enough to warrant a stoppage.

She couldn’t open her eye to continue, but she had both eyes open to be announced winner? GTFOH

Based on the interview, she wanted a finish so she could earn a ufc contract.
With that result, even though she thinks she showed she's viable, she will probably need another fight to earn a contract.
She also thinks she wanted a way out 😂

For the last... Damm... That was almost an axe kick lol

Tough fight to call tonight lemons is getting older and lucindo looks fast and crisp striking. But lucindo doesn't have much power and lemons can crack if she makes it ugly lucindo could get slept. Lemons had a pretty big wrestling weakness but I don't know if lucindo has the takedowns to take advantage of this.

I'm going to unconfidently say lucindo wins a close one.

Lemons really rattle lucindo early with strength and power. I was expecting the whole fight to look like the beginning of the third but it took her coach begging her to go fight for lucindo to try anything.

Jessica Delboni is back, and seeking action outside Invicta for a change:

Nice pro debut for featherweight Alina Dalaslan over the weekend:

Alana Cook is one of the dantamweights I’ve been keeping an eye on. Hopefully she makes it Stateside this year to get some fights:

Multiple time flyweight (112lbs) boxing champ Kenia Enriquez is fighting on that Combate card. Boxrec had her ranked #1 at flyweight earlier in the year (they've since added her to the inactive list when she announced the mma debut), and #4 all time at that weight.

Her opponent is 5-0 in mma with some amateur experience. Rough debut!

Low stakes wmma fights this weekend
I really hope Nunes wins she's been fun representing FW and aggressive goes for the kill. Priscilla is similar but the dirty version and massive weight cutter to get at smaller girls and has never heard of defense.
Also have a fondness for sampage winning but I don't remember her opponent so maybe she an excellent prospect that I should want to win idk.
The third fight idk hope it's a banger.

Ill have cachoeira this week because Nunes seems to not evolve at all
She seems like the same girl when she joined, aka small girl that throws (a lot of) haymakers
Cant stand cachoeiras antics in and out of the octagon but its her fight to win.
Im taking stephanie ml because she seems to have a decent gas tank
Also, on the supertitious side, sam loses one that wins one… Last fight she won so…
(Jokes aside, it wouldnt surprise me in case she wins, her record ia far better than it looks)
For judice/duben…
Idk…
Judice by being more technical?

ONE’s disrespect of one of their champions continues tomorrow morning. Xiong looks drained this time. Probably isn’t helped by the inactivity

kenia enriquez gave a good account of herself in this fight. 1st round she dropped hayley valentine a couple of times and was able to use her boxing frame to stave off takedown attempts. 3rd round valentine managed to get back mount and enriquez did all the right things to avoid an rnc: fight the hands, turn to her side so that valentine's hands couldn't connect. if the fight was 30secs longer she might have fallen to an arm triangle/armbar in the guard but was saved by the bell. good stuff from enriquez. i'd be curious to see her against a better kicker next.
