wing chun or muy thai for self defense

Yet he's still a boxer who successfully defended himself against multiple attackers is a real-life situation, caught on camera. Do you happen to have any similar footage of someone defeating surrounding attackers with chain punches or whatever?

Any martial art that tells you they can prepare you to take on multiple attackers is not only ignorant, but dangerous, as well. Your best weapons in such a situation are a gun and a good pair of running shoes.

I think any martial art that make you think you can fight even one opponent without danger is being dangerous. Any adult is fully capable of hurting another, even without any MA training.

The boxer did quite well, but see how he throws straight punches most of the time, he keeps it simple, no fancy techniques, the guy followed the Krav-Maga booklet quite well.

what the hell is that crap

The idea in that multiple attacker video is good but the intensity is crap and isn't really going to prepare her too much or at all.

It's not always what but how you train IMO

Though you can't always leave sometimes you have to fight until you see your way out to then run first got jumped when I was 15 years old by a mall by some gangbanger sissys took one hook to the neck then when on myhalf knocked over side I got upper cut by another dude then turned and blocked a right and left hook by the first attacker then I felt something on my right leg and I looked down to see a 3rd attackers leg on my thigh that rolled into my groin then I keeled over again and saw a path to get out of there so then I was able to run done and done did I kick ass not at all but did my training at the time help me (maybe a year of karate at the time) I think so. It's about survival in such situations .......

To be fair no one knows what this guy does. He could be a boxer, he could be a krav maga guy, he could be a wing chun guy, he could be just some guy who hits the heavy bag day to day.

Using footage without facts isn't a viable method of argument.

Assuming that I'm entirely devoid of facts isn't either.

I've included a (very rough) translation of the video which reveals the name of the guy defending himself, the name of his victims, and his profession (a security guard at a bank). Plenty of people claim that he's a boxer, but nobody can produce any sort of concrete proof (such as a boxing record or whatever), so of course there is the possibility that he has never trained boxing in his life. Either way, you cannot argue that he successfully uses boxing fundamentals (which have been adapted by plenty of martial arts) to ward off multiple attackers in a real-life situation. The video was posted because -- at least it seemed to me -- that someone was making the implication that boxing against multiple people was a bad idea, while running around like a yo-yo and palming people in the fact was.

an argument of wrong overtakement begins!I'ts likely that a fight will start!

aand, a fist to fist fight begins!!!

(a little break and a view of fight)

a side, there is a father-son and their relatives, and on the other side there is a man almost like a one-man-army!!!With the courage from being crowded "Orhan Cengiz" takes attack position with teasing(he swores)!anfter that, his father "Ahmet Cengiz" and their relatives support him!

but the father and son look like they hit a tough one!Because their rival is "Nuh Demircan" who works as a guard in a bank!!

Demircan, took his guard like a boxer and started to defend himself.

SHORT INTERVIEW WITH THE BEATEN GUY(FATHER)

journalist: why did the fight start?
Beaten Father(Ahmet Cengiz): Because of a mistaken overtake!

"Iron Fist" knocks his enemies with left and right hooks to the floor like a rug!Father and son are furious because of the punchs and attacks again to the "Iron Fist" with counter-punchs!Nuh Demircan is very experienced just like a profetional boxer!;

He is ready for anykind of attacks!Look what he does!(1:35)

Orhan Cengiz tries his chance with a flying kick this time but it is of no use! KNOCKOUT!

Ahmet Cengiz And Orhan Cengiz cant stand up!But the rival Nuh Demircan is still ok!

Teasing Father-son's treatment....(end)

And then of course there's this badass, but it certainly doesn't seem as if he's really being "attacked."

nothing unusual.... its a BOXER kicking ass WHILE BEING RECORDED. thats nothing new for a boxer. it happens all the time. boxing is proven... not no damn fairy tale

that was the art of fisticuffs. not no damn ball kicking, not no eye gouging, not no almighty crane kick. it was boxing. i dont see how any of you guys can dispute that.

btw. boxing=king of the streets. in situations like taht, you dont have time to throw a kick, take a person to the ground, get off chain punches or jump guard and arm bar someone. you back peddle and cold clock people with a basic 2, 3

you dont see NEVER see footage of wing chun being affective... cause its "TOO DANGEROUS!!"" ahahahha or see people throwing kickings against multiple attackers.... some people love living in fairy tales, for reals. seeing something with their own eyes isnt good enough proof. they gotta see it in a kung fu flick

WRONG! did you not see the wang chung video? the keys to street fighting are to move really slow, be completely uncoordinated, open hand strikes with out any strength what so ever, and to move like a retarded person who forgot where the restroom is.

Those are fighting fundamentals...that exist in boxing as well as other arts. That's the point.

His straight punches exist in nearly every martial art in the world. He could be a karate guy using only punches because he had to stay mobile. Hell I could say he's doing wing chun at some points with the simultaneous block and strike.

Though I'll concede that based on his performance the most likely scenario is that he's likely a guy who learned some boxing. Just keep in mind that there are lots of people that can punch--they're not all "boxer's".

riiiiiiight.. that was karate.... shuffling backwards and throwing punches is OBVIOUSLY NOT BOXING!!!!

everybody wing chun tonight... everybody wing chun tonight!!

Tell him to look his area for anyone who teaches Paul Vunaks Progressive Fighting System( Filthy MMA). It's as violent as Krav Maga, but it isn't watered down like KM is stateside. Used by SEAL Team 6 the DEA FBI and Army Rangers. And it's awesome. It's MMA on crack really, that's why he calls it Filthy MMA takes the best from WC,MT Savate, Kali, Jun Fan, and BJJ. Paul is also a Rickson Purple belt since 1990 I believe.

Real altercations make everyone revert back to a more natural way of doing things...and then punches end up looking a lot alike. I've sparred with karate guys, who do the very same thing as in the video. They back peddle to draw you in and pop you with straights and crosses.

I was teaching that very same tactic in my "muay thai" group. It's not just "boxers" that know how to punch while moving.

But since you only read the first two lines of posts the point is probably going right over your head.

give credit where credit is due. its the art of punching that saved him. simple as that. WHAT SPORT IS SECOND TO NONE WHEN IT COMES TO THE ART OF PUNCHING? WING CHUN!!!

it even says he's a boxer... holy shit how much proof you need?

since its video proof and captions saying he's a boxing. it might just go over your head. sorry this isnt a fairy tale.

My name is Vankuen. I just fought Jake W the other day. I work security. And this new's crew saw me punching Jake while in an altercation on the street. They all started saying that I was boxing.

Does that make me a boxer because I was using boxing fundamentals? Nope.

If he's a "boxer" he'll have a record. He doesn't. He's just some guy that learned to punch...and apparently fend off a group of the most incompetent folks I've ever seen in a group fight.

what's more hilarious is your boxing performance...also caught on film. So before you start acting dickish and bulling up on boxing...get some skills yourself first.

you're in serious denial.

so when "REAL ALTERCATIONS" happen people revert to "PUNCHING ALIKE" really? you should tell your buddy to start training for "real altercations" and learn how to "punch like" real punchers.
