Back in 2021 when Windows 11 first became available, a message would pop up asking me if I wanted to switch to Windows 11 and gave me two choices, yes or no. I always selected no.

The message kept popping up every week or so but eventually the choices changed from yes or no to yes or not now. I selected not now.

Soon the message changed from asking me if I wanted to install Windows 11 to asking me when I wanted to install Windows 11 with the choices being Now, set a time to install or not now so I selected not now.

The past few weeks the message would pop up saying that Windows 11 will be be installed now but it had the option to select not now.

Last night, I fell asleep with the computer on and when I woke up, I found that Windows 11 had been installed.

It didn't look too much different other than some changes at the bottom of the screen.

When I tried to watch a YouTube video, I found out that the sound was screwed up. This computer uses DTS for sound so I clicked the Windows icon, clicked on show all apps, scrolled to the DTS progam and clicked on it. It brings up a screen with some information on the program but no controls and nothing to click on to access any controls. On some YouTube videos I barely have sound with the YouTube sound at maximum and the master volume on my my computer at 100%. I used to run the YouTube volume at about 1/4 and my computer master at 50%.

I suppose I'll have to spend a few hours trying to solve the problem or try to get back to Windows 10.

Is it true that Windows 11 tries to force you to have a webcam to spy on you?

Fuck those motherfuckers. Windows 10 was the tipping point for me. I finally loaded Linux Mint, and its more like Windows than Windows now. It opens every goddamn windows file and video I ever had without hassle. I'm not wasting time going through layers of bullshit to get the same old control panel like windows 10. Never going back to microsoft.

I'm trying to figure out what happened to this:

"Windows 10 dubbed 'the last version of Windows' as Microsoft rethinks the operating system"

Windows 10 dubbed 'the last version of Windows' as Microsoft rethinks the operating system | Windows Central

I find the line of reasoning in this article contradictory, but why make the statement that it's the last version of Windows if Windows 11 was down the pipeline?
Microsoft figured out they could make more money by releasing another operating system. It’s that simple.

As someone who works with Microsoft products all day long, including their infrastructure products, I can assure you that their left hand doesn’t know what their right hand is doing. They are just ad hoc coming up with shit, rubber stamping it, and then saying, “yeah, uh… we planned on doing this. Here’s our new patch management. It was our mobile device manager. We just decided it will replace SCCM because we realized some companies were using it that way and decided that they knew our products better than we did.”

Absolutely true story.

If one isn't a gamer this is the way to go.

I hate windows 10 even. I am still using 8.1 and i intend to until something absolutely forces me to update.

Sounds like something M$ would do.

TBH, my experience has never really improved since the final versions of Windows XP. In some cases I would say my experience is worse.

whoa whoa whoa there buddy, you have to unplug it and LEAVE IT UNPLUGGED FOR 10 SECONDS! You can't go willie nillie plugging it right back in and expect it to be fixed.

Sorry...the time is critical if you want the update to undo. You're right.

This would make trouble shooting a hardware issue in Windows seem like a pleasant experience by comparison.

I had both Linux and Windows on a computer a few years ago so I could boot to either when I had a printer that didn't work with the then newest version of Windows. I might do that again.

I solved my current problem by going back to Windows 10. Microsoft actually had it setup to do it on the control panel in Windows 11 if you go back within 10 days.

Windows 10 is MUCH better than Windows 8.1. Windows 8.1 is pretty awful.
To each their own. For one, i prefer to use a keyboard and mouse, and windows 10 seems to be more geared toward tablet devices. When windows 10 came out i tried it for a month, and just couldnt force myself to like it so went back to 8.1. Its at least better then Vista, lol

That's weird because I'm pretty sure Windows 8 was designed for tablet use actually. I've been using Windows 10 since 2015 and immediately liked a lot more then Windows 8.

Yeah, Vista was horrible. Nothing compares to the horror of Windows ME, though.
