Will the UFC survive after Dana retires?

Every other org over the years has gone bust. Pride, Bodog, Affliction, Strikeforce, all gone. Dana makes the decisions at the UFC. I don't think anyone else can do what Dana does. After he's gone, I kind of see the company getting another leader like those companies. And then going under.

I don't see dana retiring for a very long time. he's a relatively young guy. maybe not for a fighter, but in general he is. unless he gets bored and doesn't want to do it.

Dana was carried by the Fertitta's and is still riding their wave. The organization and MMA in general will be much better off without him.

Uncle Dana has a good 30+ years left of building the sport and brand. No worries, kids.

Lots of clowns in this thread who know nothing about business. They think Dana is just some 'public figure' or they once heard Chael Sonnen would be a good replacement so they parrot that stuff even though Sonnen isn't even remotely close to being 1/100th of White's worth and skills in the business.

What makes anyone think Cheal is qualified to take Dana’s place?? He literally has no qualifications for the job like none whatsoever

That’s gotta be the stupidest thing I have ever read.

Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard are the only LOGICAL choice to replace Dana if it were to come to that. Maybe add in Hunter Campbell as well

I think it’s quite obvious that Dana is grooming DC to be UFC president when he eventually steps down.

Dana is only 51 years old. He's a workaholic. He really enjoys what he does. I don't think he will retire until he's in his 70s. Heck boxing promoter Don King continued promoting fights into a ripe old age.

It sounds like few people really know what Dana does

nope, the second he retires the UFC will collapse, all theri facilities will burst into flames and all the fighters will be instantly crippled

He's not going to retire. She's going to have a stroke and or die of heart failure at work

This is like declaring a roman emperor an awesome military man because the legion crushed some gauls.

Using a legion to crush some Gauls is precisely why people declare Julius Caesar an awesome military man.

lol @ thinking either of them knows how to read a balance sheet.

And you're proving my point agreeing with it. Julius Caesar was half military man as Vercingetorix his main opponent who gave the romans hell for a while, but defeated him by sheer magnitude of resources indrectly afforded to him through a lesser degree of skill. Much like strikeforce, WEC, and Pride were all legendary leagues that had zero shot against the UFC and it wasn't because of Dana. Much like there are many better business and MMA minds than Dana, but he has a powerful throne. Is he stupid? No. But the dude has no special sauce besides a bunch of goobers being like "he look like me, and da tv said he is da fight genius. i like ufc. i like dana white". More over, I'm speaking to the dozens of other emperors that capriciously slaughtered tribal groups; it was not a unique ability to send a bunch of well armed dudes out to battle lesser foes.

I don't fault the UFC for riding the shtick; it's highly effective and the ownership group knows his act helps them keep the fans more enamored with him and the brand than say, pushing back on them as underpaying goofs lining their own pockets on unfair rankings, matchups and pay scales.
He is the on-screen equivalent to Vince McMahon sans any actual ability to found or run a public company behind the scenes. WWE is trash and scripted, but Vince is savagely involved compared to a goof like Dana.

I hope so. I'm worried about the red goofs health though. Hopefully he has no medical problems that cause him to step down.

Of course. No one is indispensable. No one.

Dana is the face of the UFC.... but he can replaced... when he's older, and around the time he retires... he will take a colleague or a new figure-head under his wing to build into his role. It won't be anyone in MMA now, I don't think bc Dana still has 10-20 years left, so plenty of time to mold him a replacement.

Hate to make this reference but it's like Vince McMahon molding his son-in-law, Triple H to take over his WWE reigns when he finally retires.

Unless he becomes physically unable to lead the UFC anymore, Dana will stay with the company until it spins off as a separate public company (most likely via IPO). The person who will replace him then is probably Hunter Campbell.

Will the Earth survive and keep rotating?
