Will September 16 2023 be the last time?

I coudl see Zhang defending her title on a Fight Night event in China if they go over there any time soon.

Let's not forget WEC on Versus. For whatever reason, I always liked the production of those cards better than UFC cards. And I still maintain that Todd Harris and Frank Mir might be the best commentating team I've seen.
Don't forget UFC on FuelTV either, featuring such MMA highlights as Stefan Struve knocking out Stipe Miocic and a PRIDE rematch with Werdum submitting Big Nog.

They used to do this kind of stuff to "make up for" bad PPV performances, cancelations, etc. Was not common but it happened here and there.

Now they couldn't care less. Disney money is Disney money whether fans are happy or not.

I feel like under corporate control there is some PR rat that will constantly assess the UFC brand and instruct them what "devalues" their branding and probably tells them they can never do a free title fight. Any unpopular champs lately have just been packaged as comain to boost a PPV card.

I think we'll see PPV prices increase and less free stuff because some suit is managing how the org looks. Probably the only way things change is a subscription model and it'll still be like 30$/month or something stupid. So yeah I'm shocked 2023 was as close as the last free championship fight.

Who knows though, I feel like UFC might be in a bind where they need to cover a broken card and moves a boring championship fight to it to save the loss.

I can't tell if this is a joke. UFC 75 was aired in North America via tape delay, which was completely ridiculous.
Not a joke at all. At the time, I was watching the PPVs on replay anyway, so it made no difference to me (the place I watched the PPVs had a cover charge for the live event, but immediately did a free replay afterwards).
