Will an Indian ever hold a UFC strap?

I work with a ton of Indians and they don't seem to be into MMA much. That said, India is a massive country with over a billion people. One would think they'd be able to produce a top tier fighter or two.

However all the Indians I work with don't seem to possess an athletic bone in their body. I'm confident that if my office had an open weight tournament I'd at least make it to the finals.

So, will we ever see Dana putting the belt on an Indian fighter?

Fedor just mauled the biggest Indian prospect Jadeep Sigh. No shame in losing to the GOAT I guess

India has lots of traditional martial arts, 10-11...

Maybe if MMA becomes popular there. Out of 1+ billion people some off them are bound to have some great talent for fighting.

An Indian already fucked Arianny so I'd say thats just as, if not more, impressive.

Well, in a distant future if someone sets up a gym in India that has a partnership with american gyms and can send their best fighters to get better training, maybe.
10 or even 20 years from now, no.
If you consider children of indian parents but living in the US or Canada as indians than the chances grow a bit.

It seems like they're not very athletic but the sport is fairly young so i would say that there is a possibility that in the future we could have an indian champ

You'd be surprised the athletes India has. I knew an Indian kid in my Phys Ed class back in high school. He ran a Legit 4.4 in the 40 yd dash. His parents didn't let him play sports, unfortunately.

LOL seriously? Where the fuck have you been, living under a rock? It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of WHEN.

I wonder if there's anything of interest left in that Indian tradition of wrestling? Very impressive.

Even if all this training and dieting is, likely, outdated 'tough it out' method, the sheer discipline and workrate gained from it could produce some really interesting results.

They just signed Arjun Bhullar, he's a Heavyweight from Canada with Olympic level wrestling credentials.

But it just Indians from India are more into telling their kids to focus on education and not sports.

And the kids who do go into sports, go into cricket, more you can make millions dollars easily.

Karl Gotch was somehow influenced by Indian wrestling.
