does any of this ring true? I doubt their description of old marriage. Infidelity could get you killed back in the day. People are very casual a bout it today.

I'm not going to read all that. I did marry the wrong person. haha! I have to disagree about infidelity though. That shit will still get you killed today. I watched a documentary about sociopaths or maybe serial killers and this psychologist was explaining that many murders happen because the murderer is simply embarrassed and it's too much for some people. Infidelity can be embarrassing.

People that get married way too young fuck it up. Even those who wait until their older fuck it up too, usually because they get married out of desperation.

Interesting , I did read the entire article..the writer did a good job, additionally ...People also get married because that is what is expected of them, our culture shoves this down our throat the instant we hit the air....I was fortunate and lived a pretty independent balanced life before getting married at 42. By that age a lot of the piss and vinegar was out of me. This allowed me to make a great choice that I am very happy with 8 years later. At the end of the day it's really just the luck of the draw..

Marry the wrong person? Already been there and done that. Statistics show that a lot of people in there 30's have. Antiquated custom imo, it works for some people though and more power to them.Most people have no concept of what a commitment of "forever" really means.


It means you put up with the good and the bad, and you don't leave when you get bored or the other person pisses you off or you hit the first rough patch. A lot of people today treat getting divorced like breaking up with someone in high school.

No Jim never had kids, this is another pretty interesting aspect of marriage. Observing my friends for years with children I noticed how children create a distraction , after kids, the focus is off the relationship, and shifted to raising children for the next 20 years..When you live a life without children, your partner and relationship is front and center 24/7. It has to be good, or it will be gone..
