Why was Rhonda so hated?

Ronda got caught up in the hype machine and listened to people she probably shouldn't have been listening to. She suffered from depression and is now dedicating her life to ruining Travis Browne. So far, so good. I feel sorry for them both.

Because of all the dumb bullshit she said and how badly the UFC hype machine and Joe Hogan tried to push her down our throat.

The girl had no class, she's trailer park trash

I didn't like her behavior after she beat Meisha and said she didn't feel bad about breaking her arm.
I thought that crossed the line.

The hype became overwrought and unbearable for people with any sense and Joe Rogan's maudlin interview performance, openly weeping and groveling in the presence of a once-ever athlete sent them over the edge. It didn't help that Ronda fans were mostly just that. Ronda fans only, not fans of MMA and it showed in their very low-level comprehension of the fight game overall.

Obnoxious offensive attitude. Delusional thinking she should be cast as Wonder Woman or Ms. Marvel.

Rhonda never ducked fights or backed down. She was an active champ who wrecked opponents with finishes nearly every time. What gives?
Love Rousey between the bells but once the bell rings for the last time and the fight is over, absolutely disliked her. Before the fight, and right after the fight, I absolutely do not care for her at all.

Why?

Has absolutely no class in victory or defeat especially if there's any animosity, real or otherwise. When your opponent comes to shake your hand after you kicked their ass, that's means what's done is done. Respect.

Her resting bitch face or her mean mugging where she tries to act like the Diaz brothers.

Lastly, how she handled her losses. She wins, man can she sit there, smile and gloat but lose and she's no where to be seen, won't talk to the media, won't give her opponents an ounce of credit.

Like I said initially, before the bell rings and after the final bell rings, absolutely dislike her for who she appears to be. But when the fight starts until the end of the fight, she was great.

That goes for any fighter though, not just Rousey.

Uh, Ronda was the one who continuously talked about wanting to fight Cyborg. She dropped down to 135 in the first place solely to build up hype for a fight with Cyborg specifically... Then Dana created a brand new UFC 135 division for Rousey and the rest is history.

http://mmajunkie.com/2011/12/strike...eeds-to-happen-but-wants-135-pound-belt-first

But Ronda was, without question, the one that wanted to fight Cyborg. She talked a lot of smack about Cyborg back in the day too.

Uh, that article is from Dec 21, 2011 after the Yamanaka fight. Here is Cyborg on Dec 5, 2011 talking about dropping down to 135 because there was no competition (the same day she gave a hot sample btw.)
http://www.fightinginsider.com/2011/12/05/cris-‘cyborg’-santos-willing-to-drop-to-bantamweight/

Here is an article from the end of Nov 2011 that talks about the women of 135 not wanting to let Rousey have a contender shot:
https://wombatsports.wordpress.com/...da-rousey-earn-your-spot-in-the-135-division/

The day after your linked article, Rolling Stone put out this one about Cyborg being notified of a violation
http://www.rollingstone.com/sports/...ied-of-potential-usada-drug-violation-w457583

Oh yeah, and there was this too, where Cyborg said she was willing to put the 145 division on her shoulders and two weeks later killed it with a hot test by being required to sit out all of 2012:

"The championship matchup comes just two days after Zuffa and Strikeforce officials announced that the female divisions, which had been in peril as Strikeforce wavered in limbo, will continue to operate in 2012. Santos, widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound female fighter in the sport, said she’s willing to put the division on her shoulders as it moves into this new era."

People might have been talking about Rousey fighting Cyborg back then, but Cyborg was the one calling out Rousey while Rousey was trying to get a contender fight with Sarah Kaufmann at 135 for a shot at the title. Cyborg hadnt fought for 18 months before the Yamanaka fight, came back and destroyed what little there was of the 145 division with one positive test. After the Yamanaka win, Cyborg called out Rousey. I'm pretty sure there is an article right before the fight where she calls her out too, but Rousey didnt say the Cyborg fight needed to happen until Cyborg came back from her layoff full of PEDs and said that Rousey "talks too much." She certainly didnt drop down to 135 just to make a fight at 145, that's silly.

Considering Rousey wasnt even in Strikeforce before August 2011 and only had 2 fights on the Challenger series before Cyborg tried to get her as an opponent, I'm not sure how much more "back in the day" there was before she went to 135. Everything after Cyborg showed the commission how full of Stanzonol she was is pretty warranted for blowing up a whole wMMA division.

Remember, just over a year and a half ago Cyborg said she could make 135 in a week to fight Rousey...

I remember when Dana white's lil bitchass said Ronda was boxing sparring some Mexican boxers and dropping them with body punches. Lol fkin gayass liar. But I like Ronda tho. All the people that talks shit about Ronda and says they don't like Ronda, they're the first 1 to ask Ronda for a picture and a autograph if they see her in real life.

Annoying personality.
Joe Rogan
She stated she could beat men.
Never faced the media after her losses, like every other fighter that has ever fought.
Travis Browne
Edmond

I think that pretty much covers it. But feel free to add.

Also TUF, as someone else already wrote.

1. The hyperbole that surrounded her, and she bought into.
2. The way she acted towards other fighters.

See sig, Ronda's offensive grappling was at a level unseen in WMMA before or since... even if Nunes, Holly, Shevchenko, Tate (since she beat one of the girls who beat Ronda) etc. are on a similar or greater level of overall skill compared to Ronda... Ronda's submission game remains the gold standard in that area.

What does 1,2, and 3 have to do with " hating whichever woman became the first dominant champion in the inaugural woman's division."?

They're some reasons that Carano wasn't hated. You're the one who mentioned Carano. I know she was somewhat famous before Rousey, but she wasn't really a dominant champion on the same level as Rousey.

Forced down a lot of fans throats and hyped as unbeatable even through she was fighting very average competition at the time.

she was an arrogant classless loudmouth. people tend to not like those.

Believed her own hype. Fame changed her.

I chose to remember early Strikeforce Ronda.
