Why was Miesha Tate hyped again?

Her record is full with wins over soccer moms who followed a saturday BJJ class. Ronda absolutely destroyed her twice and Holly Holm just has a really bad ground game. I understood the Ronda hype, she obliterated her opponents and was an olympic medalist and seeing Judo in the octagon was refreshing.

Miesha is just the result of a really shallow talent pool.

What a dumb question. You gloat about Ronda beating her twice but for some reason you don't care that Holly wrecked Ronda and then was choked unconscious by Miesha. That is some clear cut bias you got there. Very few fighters beat Miesha before the Nunes fight.

Miesha was champion for 10 minutes, had a horrible weight cut causing her to almost miss weight and then goes on losing her first title defense.

It takes a lot of energy to be a rockstar, Joe.

I think we all know who the real champion of that division is.

I think the Holly performance really put her over the top in terms of fans. The fact that she was clearly down and gave it everything she had to get Holly down and get that choke instead of just accepting a decision loss and trying not to get finished was admirable. She's always displayed great heart in her fights and I think that's something that a lot of people like to see. Combine that with the fact that she's consistently been at the top of the WBW division for years, she's very well-spoken, and she's a grade-A cutie pie, and you'll see that there's really no reason not to like Miesha.

She's still very good, so what if she got wrecked... of course Nunes had a chance to win and if she won, that's how she was going to do it. It's like Gus getting smoked by Rumble, that's Amanda's thing. She goes all in to destroy and if she wins it'll be brutally, with one exception in the Shev fight.

She gets hyped because she has a nice body and people like to hate Rousey, people were actually starting to give Tate a chance in a 3rd fight with Rousey which is ridiculous. She always gets praised for her heart and mental toughness but you could make a case that Rousey & Holm are both mentally tougher than her. For once the pressure was on Tate and she got punched then walked to the other side of the cage and laid down so Nunes could sub her, she didn't even wait for the choke.

It looked like her foot got caught between the mat and the cage, causing the slip. As for the tap, she had a broken nose and the attempted choke had her mouth covered while twisting her jaw; probably pretty tough to breathe in that situation.

She is a horrible fighter. She proved that she is average at best. She is going to need that purse money to fix her face because Amanda Nunes turned it into hambuger helper.

Tate has a Butterface

Tate has Silicone baggies

Tate Taps out faster than McTapper

Tate has a hang on leech Bryan Tate

Tate has a worse personality than Ronda, at least Ronda puts it out there, Tate thinks she slick and foolin ppl

Would be cool if she corrects her nose, as it is broken anyway.

Her heart and tenacity offsets whatever she lacks in skill. Her position in the division is legitimate. The woman has a tremendous resume.

Basically yeah. I actually quite like Miesha because of that. She doesn't have anything approaching elite talent or skill, but even managed to gut out a win against an elite striker in Holm through not much more than toughness/determination.

Shame she believed her own hype overnight, and thought Nunes was an easy mark, and got murked.
