Why was Diaz/Daley stopped for Diaz not Paul?

You can find the fight pretty easily online. It's just strange to me that Diaz was dropped pretty bad right before Paul and the fight was allowed to continue, but when Paul dropped for a bit the fight was stopped.

I was a bit irked when it happened but when Daley didn't complain I figured it was a good stoppage.

It was a terrible stoppage but since Diaz has a larger fanbase than Daley, no one really cared at the time.

from what i remember Diaz got caught and fell down, but Paul on the other hand was taking a beating and stumbled to the ground

Yeah definitely a bad stoppage.

difference is Nick got dropped by a punch and fought his way back up. Paul got tagged and his legss forgot how to leg

That is a Big John question.....looks worse with the angle

Daley stopped defending. Diaz didn't. Daley was pretty much knocked out actually. You need to find a good angle of the finish.

Diaz did as much 'defending' in that sequence as Daley did. The only difference is Daley landed on his back. As for Daley being pretty much knocked out, that's wildly inaccurate. He was badly dazed and trying to recover. Diaz's last couple of punches both appear to miss completely.

BJM knows Diaz is a tough bastard. Nick was intelligently defending himself

Daley never gets wobbled. He was pushing off with his legs but he wasn't blocking with his hands, and BJM looked into his eyes before he stopped it.

Is pushing off with your legs and not trying to block the punches with your arms intelligent defense while on your back? Not really. Daley was just waving his arms around like he was confused.

That and also It seemed like Daley couldn't even get up after the stoppage, that has to tell something. On the other hand Diaz was in no way out after getting dropped. Like you said he did a great job defending himself intelligently.

I think I remember big john saying he wasn't concerned with the time and thought Daley was done.I thought the stoppage was Ok I kinda remember Daley being so rocked he could badly stand and kinda fell on his own when they broke part for a second.
