Ariel Helwani has said that every time he's tried to confirm a story with the UFC they've either told him no comment, or flat out lied and said the story wasn't true so he didn't report it just to have another media sources report it and it ended up being true.

So they make it completely useless to very disadvantageous for journalists to ask them regarding news.

Yet they still expect Helwani to give them a call before breaking news? Or just sit on it because maybe it'll upset them? Makes zero sense and is completely stupid.

What the UFC should be doing is setting up embargo deals like every other major corporation does for secret things like this. Gather the press, have them sign an embargo deal where the UFC will tell them the story but they can't report on it until they've announced it. This way all the big media guys have storys and everything ready for when the story breaks, and they get inside media scoop. This is how every other professional corporation deals with secret news.

The UFC handled this like complete amateurs, it's embarrassing. And anyone backing them is equally stupid.

I dunno but i like dana and the ufc and i think ariel is a cry baby

The children on this forum won't understand why the ufc is corrupt and this move is a disgrace.

Bernie Sanders is promising free PPV's

Post in the other topic, dipshit. Your opinion isn't valuable enough to make your own.

Sure it is. I haven't seen a single person mention embargo's in any of the other threads which are filled with 99% trash from useless people like you. Embargo's are a corner stone to how secret trade deals work in every industry and it should be brought to light, not buried in that shit hole.

MMA fans by and large are a loyal fanbase. However, there's a groupthink/idiocy narrative that Sherdog has been an arena to for some time.

Helwani did nothing wrong. He was not bought, he was ethical. Zuffa wants to control the media to an absurd point. They take advantage of this young sport, where there is no writer's association for MMA writers. The UFC want to be their own media, which is a obstructive to fair reporting.

Lorenzo Fertita in particular comes out of this looking like a complete amaeteur as far as sports organization owners go. Ariel Helwani doesn't deserve this treatment.

When you compromise your journalistic integrity and "report" on the organization that signs your pay check, it's called a conflict of interest, and you should cease all further bitching.

ban the publication of (documents), as for security or copyright reasons

its a deal signed by both parties. The journalists agree to not release the information prior to the other party releasing it, and in return they get all the inside information and interviews once the news is released. Completely standard for announcements corporations want to keep secret.

Power corrupts. Once you realize they stop making sense and get hypocritical, it's all over. That's when you know you're dealing with someone irrational and drunk from their power.
