The Americas hold the majority of the fighters signed by the UFC, but they'll always sign prospects from Europe and everywhere else when they pop up. I know is an American company, but i don't think they'd have problem raising the numbers of fighters from other parts of the world.
I might be wrong, but it seems like MMA is either ignored or despised in some places, that are usually well known in the Martial Arts circle.
Might be an Elitist point of view making it hard for people to join mma in those places, but i'm pretty sure we should see more talent from other countries, for example, Germany, Spain, South Africa, France, Argentina, Portugal, even Mexico, like, not Mexican-Americans, straight outta Mexico really.
Most of them had success in other forms of martial arts but hardly any in MMA. I know that is hard to support MMA in those places if it doesn't turn into a fever, but how come they're not around as much as they could in MMA ? seeing that the UFC wants to expand around the world, would be vital to have a couple prospects from other parts of the world.
I bet Brazil and USA aren't the only pools of talent, matter of fact if we do it, anywhere in the world they can too. Brazil is a 3rd world country going through economic crisis and corrupt government that only supports Football *soccer*, and we still do well in sports, MMA is a good example. Hell even Ireland had their moment of fame, and the countries i mentioned still far behind, what's up ?
