These are the real reasons why Pride fighters didn't do as well in the UFC. DIG IT :)!!! PRIDE NEVER DIE!!! jk this is tribute to stomps and soccer kicks. Do you think the landscape of the UFC rankings would be different with these added?

Because the popular ones were at the end of their careers and out of their primes.

Pride never die.

Pride only go unconscious. a lot.

The only current champion over the age over 30, while also having more than 15 fights, is GSP. Fight mileage matters.

MMA as a sport surely hasn't evolved or anything

is it legal to soccer kick an opponent (but not in the face) in the ufc?
anyways head kicks to downed opponent is a bit too much imo

Soccer kicks to the body are legal, stomps aren't though.

Sometimes you see these kind of axe-kicks to the abs of a downed opponent, that's not considered to be a stomp? I believe GSP did that a couple of times.

How did UFC fighters from lets say 2004 to 2007, do post 2008 in the UFC?

Not great.

Chuck got KO'd left and right. Arlovski got KO'd left and right. Tito couldn't win a fight. Big Tim went to shit. Randy never won a title again. Rich Franklin never close to a title and so on.

Damn those UFC fighters suck.

Let's see:

Big Nog- interim HW champ
Shogun- LHW champ
Rampage- LHW champ
Anderson Silva- MW champ
Hendo- elite fighter and contender in two weight classes for years after

I'd say they did quite well.

Cuz they are/were generally older and past their prime when they fight/fought in the UFC. Most of them were already fighting when the UFC was sill a small organization. The mileage Pride fighters had when they arrived in the UFC didn't help.

Great Pride fighters would probably be as dominant in the UFC today as they were back in the Pride days if they were still ~27-28yo today and had the same training methods young fighters have today.

The sport evolves, the training methods evolve, they way to do things evolve... but the talent/heart/will to win are not something you can learn. You have it or not, and I think guys like Fedor, Hunt, Coleman, Crocop had a lot of talent/heart/determination.

Here come the parade of morons who don't understand fucking time moving forward

Anderson/Hendo compared to Rich/Leben at MW
Shogun/Wand/Rampage compared to Chuck/Randy/Tito at LHW
CC/Barnett/Nog compared to Sylvia/Arlovski/Mir at HW

Yeah clearly steroids. That is why they did so horrible in the UFC.

Bunch of aging Pride guys captured the belts geniuses.

No point in really getting into Pride vs UFC discussion, not the point of the topic. But Pride fighters did very well in the UFC.......and one thing to point out is that UFC fighters that came over the Pride from 2000 to 2006 or so, did horrible.

On the topic at hand............gotta love the stomps and soccer kicks, we may never see that kind of fight ever again. Brings back memories.

And to the countless morons that are bring up the steriod issue??? How many Pride fighters did well in the UFC and never had any issues with PEDs.....many...and several went on to be champs. And lets not exclude guys like Machida, who didnt fight in Pride but fought in Heros...same shit.

I dont feel like writing out a list of UFC fighters that got busted for PED`s....I mean there at least 10 I can name in the past 2 years alone.....never mind going back a decade....we could be here all night. UFC fighters are proven PED users, no point in discussing who did in Pride cause it cant be proven.....just speculation.

The GOAT UFC fighter (Silva not GSP!) was getting tapped out in PRIDE so he went to UFC for easier competition.

get outta here fanboys.

Some guys are still relevent, even today. Werdum is the #1 contender at HW. Hunt of all people who wasnt even a top HW in Pride just fought at #1 conteners bout....got KOd and is in the main event of another high profile match up. Even Nog was still relevant, he fougth Werdum in a fight where if he won he would have been moved up into a bigger fight.

Ultimate 100 Knockouts on FOX Sports 1 & 2 will show TUF newbies what the best mixed martial artists in the world at the time could do. They are mixing in PRIDE, Affliction, and Strikeforce, and might be put together by a more impartial person considering they included Tito's clinch takedown KO of Evan Tanner.

PRIDE fighters took a lot of wear and tear in PRIDE and K-1 prior to competing in UFC. That's why they didn't do so well. MMA has also advanced since the PRIDE days. If you had the PRIDE and UFC top fighters in the PRIDE era, the PRIDE guys would kick most of the UFC guys' butts like Rampage did to Chuck.
