MMA and MMA fans need more organizations like Strikeforcr/Bellator or like PrideFC/Dream.

Question is, why there are no more major MMA organizations around the world? What's the biggest threat to start a "profitable" business like the UFC?

1. There are thousands of potential MMA stars training around the world. The UFC has just a minimal % of the whole universe, and the UFC only gives big paychecks to the elite ones.

2. There are a lot of MMA fans around the world. In Brasil MMA is supposed to be the 2nd sport (fans wise) just behind soccer. Then, there's a huge market eager to watch good MMA events.

3. A good show would make any new organization attractive and able to compete with the UFC. For example, PrideFC had the ring, the shouting woman, the great intros, the stomps and soccer kicks, the posters.

4. It's kindda "easy" to join an attractive roster. Free agents, new talents, some big names, would make a good start.

5. Why MMA has to be "ruled" by just one big organization like most USA sports: MLB, NHL, NFL, NBA. In soccer you have Spain's Liga, England's Premier League, Germany's Bundesliga, Italy's Serie A, Holland's Eredivisie, etc. Every country has its own big tournament. Why MMA has to be almost monopolized by the UFC?

If the UFC is worth $4 billion, why there are no more investors trying to enter in an "easier" market than other sports? A lot of potential fighterstrying to get a name, a big fan base.

Thoughts?

1) Lots of different MMA org's with the talent spread out.
= people cry that we don't get to see all the marquee matchups we want

2) Most MMA fighters under one roof.
= people cry about monopoly.

Because of you. The fans.

Think about it. You're welcome.

Blame the fans.

"Strikefarce"
"He's not in the UFC so he's untested"
"Fedor only fought cans"

there have always been, and always will be, competition. it's just that the ufc cannibalizes the successful mma organizations (pride, strikeforce, wec, etc).

I don't care about fighter pay and all that BS, a monopoly is good for the fans because we get to see all the fights we want.

World Fucking Domination

This exactly.

Some of you were around when the UFC and PRIDE were competing. There was endless debate after endless debate over which organization had the best fighters, and there were some fights (Chuck vs Wand, Fedor vs Randy, etc) we all wanted to see but we couldn't due to them being in different orgs. That fucking sucked. Right now there's no other orgs with the talent depth of the UFC, but Bellator and some others do have some good fighters. It's bad for the fans when you have a guy like Askren fighting literal nobodies in One FC instead of top ranked WWs. It's bad for the fans when you've got 2 phenomenal strikers with extremely fun styles (Wonderboy Thompson and Venom Page) who may never fight, even though they're in the same weight class, because Bellator and the UFC are 2 competing promotions.

Monopoly in (most) business = bad for consumers
Monopoly in sports = good for fans

I would like to see a monopoly with a union, like every other sport except for boxing, and boxing is run horribly.

In football, the top teams from those divisions come together to play each other in an annual continental based tournament (champions league, Europa league, Copa Sudamericana etc.,) this wouldn't happen if there were several top MMA orgs as opposed to just one big one where the top fighters are (they could never agree to let their top fighters go against one another; too much to lose). The only time I can think of this happening is Liddell entering the 2003 pride tournament and we know how that ended up.

I think for fighters, having several competing orgs is better for wage and career prospects, but for fans it'd mean maybe missing out on seeing the best of the best fighting each other. (Example: Not getting to see Fedor/Couture or 2005 Shogun/2005 Liddell etc.,)

I hope the UFC monopolizes MMA even more. The best fighters under one roof is the way to go..

There is nothing "easier" about being a start up trying to take down an established leader with 20 years of experience and domination in the marketplace
Fans know and accept the UFC as the major leagues of MMA and anything else is a "minor league amateur knockoff wannabe"
Its not easy or cheap to go up against that

Go to any regional promoter and ask them how much money they make. you might be shocked how low it is. MMA is a damn near impossible sport to profit on, the fact that the UFC does it is a miracle. name one other major MMA org that does not have a big financial backer. Even with the financial backing how many of them are profitable......0.

Anyone can TRY to build up good competition to the UFC.

It's just that no investors are willing to go through the crap and years in the red that Zuffa had to through to get to where they are.

So they can do what they want and we cant run to Pride, Strikeforce, EliteXC, King of the Cage etc.......Monopolies work like a charm. Main reason on paper they are illegal.

Sure, but you would be the first one to cry like a little girl if your pay was cut, thats if you had a job.
