Alex wants glory now. He wants to become a three time division champion and wants to fight Jon Jones. If he beats Jones, he cements himself as the greatest MMA fighter of all times.

Khamzat has no role in his plans and is a matchup with little rewards and more risk.

Khamzat was the shoe in for champ champ in 2020.

Since then he's been in 1 title fight. Meanwhile Poatan has already notched Champ Champ status via activity, and has a wide open title picture at HW to attempt to be the first to grab 3.

Who cares that Chimaev wants it now? Bratha, get a 2nd belt, hand it to Kadyrov, and then maybe you go after AP, who will have fought at least twice at HW by then.

Never?

I have a theory Khamzat will retire early. Their extreme wrestling heavy style combined with leg kicks in MMA result in terrible knees.

Your anger at Khamzat for the Biden-era State Department banning the most promising UFC athlete from competing in the Western world for three years... solely for the sake of virtue signaling... seems misplaced.

Not really, I'm speaking purely from a "fights fought and won from then til now" perspective, I'm not blaming Borz for covid restrictions, this is not the first time you assume I have a personal dislike for him when I more or less enjoy him as a fighter.
Khamzat blew the Diaz fight by missing weight, he's pondered retirement after health scares.

Compare that to the last 4 years of APs career, where he ate 2 losses but won 2 belts, one of which he successfully defended several times and seems to thrive on activity, and pursues the biggest game available in 10-12 weeks or takes short notice fights to save ppvs.

They're the 2 hottest commodities in the UFC, AP is still way further into a legacy run.

Jones isn't the HW champ, so well, he would have to fight a different fighter in order to become 3 divisional champ..

Pereira gets waxed by both but there is much more $$$ to be made fighting Jones. Also no shame on losing to a goat one division above you. Whereas losing to a guy who once fought at welterweight and doesn’t have that resume depth will hurt your record. And all that for $50 g’s baby and a venum kit.

Alex has no time playing around with 1-Fight-per-year-Chimy.

Alex has fought 8 fkn times from 2023 until today, while Chimy only 3 times. Alex does not want to play stupid waiting games for Chimy who will only fight once ramadan, the stars, his libido and his body allign.

I was just referring to 2022-2025 where he was banned from competing anywhere diplomatically indebted to the Western world (US / Europe / Australia / Japan). That'll definitely have an impact on how often you can fight for the UFC

They've been going to Dubai and Abu Dhabi twice a year for years now.
Limited options for sure, but still 2 cards per year

I think it is hilarious that KC is literally cherry-picking a guy whose TDD isn't good so he can hump him for 25 minutes while pretending he's some kind of bad-ass.

The next time KC tries stealing Poatan's sunshine, maybe Alex should just challenge Khamzat to a striking-only affair. Watch how fast KC and his fans shut their mouths then.

Alex will never fight him because he will lose. End of thread.

See above.

Excellent wrestler beats guy who has shitty wrestling. How surprising, never saw it coming.

What makes that match exciting? The 0.5% chance Alex KO's him on the first entrance. It would be DDP all over again. I'd rather watch Alex get lumped or humped by a heavyweight champion than a MW champ avoiding his own contenders by trying to steal Alex's clout.

If it was a kickboxing or striking-only match, no grappling or wrestling... who do you have? KC or Alex? For real?

We'll wait.

I been watching these two guys get everything wrong for years, they seem right on this topic but somehow they will be wrong again.

Where Alex is right now, Khamzat is a pointless fight. He gains very little from that by beating him. Khamzat is not a proven champion or has any legacy, so what's to gain?? The upside is all for Khamzat.

Staying at LHW and beating Ulberg and then going after HW is the right move. He completely cleans out LHW, he will have beaten #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 9 at LHW. And he can go after a third title.

He'll smack him once and knock him senseless lol. Weight classes exist for a reason. Perreira would toy around with Khamzat

How about stay in a division and rack up some title defenses?
I know a weird concept but hey, lets try it.

Alex has had an extremely favorable rise to the top. I don’t care whom the fuck you are, nobody in this day and age can train for a couple of years and be a multidivisional champion after a few years in the game. I don’t care how well you can slowly punch guys in the head and kick their calves; way more talented people had to work their way up and they weren’t in their mid to late thirties.

Alex is a manufactured icon… from his walkouts to his favorable matchups to people not trying taking him to the ground that were more than capable of doing so. Homeboy’s almost 40 at this point and the same people that own the WWE own this shit now. How stupid do you have to be?
