Why Jon Jones was unbeatable

Prime Jones was the legit GOAT, he cleared out the stacked LHW division and made it look easy. I remember watching and feeling like he could end a fight whenever and however he wanted. His fight IQ was extremely high, he was fearless, and most importantly he knew how to use his size advantage. I think his recklessness caught up with him and by the time he fought OSP he was already on the downturn.

I came here expecting OP to be a picture of a needle.

TS is bad at this.

JBJ literally beat everyone at their own game up until about rampage. then he started to have more fun doing what ever. but also making it a point to be better at opponents game plan 1st
do you just make threads via

I was going to say that. He wasn't a disciple of Miletich Fighting Systems—train everywhere and take your opponent to his weakest place; He faced his opponents at their strengths.

You can’t inject skill
That's just a wrong take.
You basically can inject skill because the needle lets you train longer.
And it makes you physically stronger.
If it didn't make him better, why did Jon pump himself full of the shit?

Jon Jones is like the final boss in a fighting game. Especially in his early 20s. He was bigger, faster, stronger... more moves, better wrestling. Young man energy, good fight IQ. And on top of all of that, he was on PEDs too.
Like Kareem in Game of Death

Same reason 6 of his opponents have. Its no mystery why pro athletes take gear.

It didnt seem to help his opponents beat him.

Good fight IQ but also a lot of people being mesmerized by him. It happens to all of the long term champs like Anderson and GSP. All of the opponents are absolutely terrified to engage with them and seemingly have no real gameplan.

It's like, how can you take one good look at Jones' legs and not implement and a heavy leg kick gameplan? It's like not Jones was a KO artist but no one until Gus and Reyes did anyone actually try to walk him down and engage. Even Cormier was frozen most of the time.

• feasting on MWs
• feasting on shot Pride legends
• steroids

DC and Rashad wins are solid even if Shad was a natural MW.

he's certainly unbeatable now. you can't lose if you never get in the cage.

"Unbeatable"?

I mean, excluding obeying the law and quite literally his last fight was one that he won thanks to bad judging, yes, I suppose he is quite "unbeatable".

Everyone's beatable.

he was amazing, but his weakness is boxing, rumor had it that he barely trained for Gus, but Gus exposed him in that aspect, just couldn't take advantage of it in the rematch, I think someone with DC's wrestling and Gus's boxing and reach, it would be curtains for Jones, IF he ever fights Francis he will get knocked out, not to mention, he hasn't fought since the virus with a 99% survival rate came in

Besides the Hamill fight, the ability to flagrantly disregard the rules - much like Mayweather.

According to Sherdog, "Shogun was going to break Jones chicken legs"

Like all fighters who lose to Jones, after theyre loss they become washed up, old, wrong weight class, never that good. etc. etc.
I remember this placing freaking out that Jones was the favorite. Vegas is smarter than Sherdog apparently. There were a lot of sad Pride fans that night.

That's a lot of words to say roids

Jones is the UFC gold standard for championship level fight IQ. This coupled with his frame, athleticism, cardio and his granite chin would make it hard for any opponent. Now add his mastery of every conceivable position of a fight. He is arguably the best Clinch fighter in modern MMA. His range attacks are Dhalsim level skills, and his wrestling has seen him best even MMA’s most proficient Olympian. Let’s also not forget that he has one of the best GNP assaults that this sport has seen and PED’s or not we have a true master of the mixed martial arts. You can’t inject skill, Jones is on a completely different plane than any fighter we have ever seen at LHW or will see for quite some time.

It is easy for people to hate on him for his out of cage antics but don’t let it pollute his in cage accolades for over a decade. He has fought and beaten every legitimate challenger in his weight class for more time than anyone we have seen in the history of the division. His hitlist of names is otherworldly and I have no issue giving respect where respect is due.

Thank you! This guy get's it.
