Why JBJ's failed drug tests don't bother me (looking at the bigger picture)

The 100m sprint has it right, just take a look at what happens when an athlete fails a PED test. I'm pretty sure they are all on the gear too....

He never failed a drug test until he failed a drug test?

<WhatIsThis>

Did his opponent also fail the drug test?

He never failed a drug test until UFC implemented proper drug testing.

Hence why nobody cares GSP never failed a drug test since he almost never had to deal with USADA : compare what's comparable.

Jon Jones > GSP by any metric.

Call me an asshole but I prefer Vitor Belfort on tiger blood then without.

Let the fighters take em if they want em. The sport is grueling and anything to help them get through training healthy or recover after a fight quicker...I'm all for it.

Come to think of it every other sport a failed PED test tarnishes your career, seems only MMA fans give the athletes a pass, how strange.

So its not like he just whoops everyone not even close.

None of his opponents were able to stop him, that's the first thing : KO, TKO, submission.

Also in all of his closer fights, Jon Jones was never afraid, never ran away, was always coming forward, was always the aggressor, was always taking the control of the cage. All of that while being the champion : you can't beat the champion if you let him acting like that. No wonder he never lost outside of your imagination.

Everyone else is comparing what is comparable, you are not.

Cheating is when your opponent has to follow rules that you do not, which is Jones failing drug tests that his opponents are required to pass, while GSP always had to pass the same tests as his opponent. They weren't moving fights to a different state at the last minute to accommodate steroid use for anybody else.

Why would post fight drug tests instead of USADA benefit GSP and not his opponents? As soon as USADA came around, Jones started fighting less often, his finishing rate dropped off sharply, was hiding under the ring to avoid drug tests, failed tests for the 2 fights he did finish. GSP had one of his best performances under USADA.

No one cares, it's about logic. When GSP fought in the UFC, doping was not allowed. If he used illegal products, then he's a cheater just like Jon Jones. It's not about stringent tests, it's about basic logic.

Also, you keep parroting the same usual nonsense while Jon Jones never had any privileged treatment :

According to the UFC, USADA has informed the promotion and the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) it does not consider the amount to be performance-enhancing and will not classify the Dec. 9 test as a failed drug test.

"Both USADA and worldwide anti-doping experts told us this was not a re-ingestion of a prohibited substance, it was remaining effects from the July 2017 positive test -- for which he was already sanctioned," said Jeff Novitzky, UFC's vice president of athlete health and performance. "And probably more importantly, he retains no performance-enhancing benefits from the small presence of the substance."

However, with Jones' title fight just six days away, the NSAC was not in a position to evaluate the circumstances in time to grant Jones a license to compete at UFC 232.

It's extremely clear, yet you're all coming with the same nonsense because you're just salty haters. Any discussion with people like you is a waste of time because you don't rely on facts and logic.

More importantly, Jon Jones was never proven guilty of anything, so he's not a cheater according to the official facts.

All nonsense again. Just one example : he literally destroyed Gus in their second fight and it was under USADA.

GSP lost 2 times in the first round, tapped to strikes, fought weaker competition and has almost not fight under USADA. Jon Jones is superior to him as a fighter by any metric, not to mention he would destroy GSP in a fight. Like if being undefeated wasn't good enough, he's also the youngest champion in the UFC ever.

I think 2 things can be true

You can believe that Jones isn't a good person and a cheat and an asshole

You can also believe that him going undefeated in his UFC career is absolute batshit crazy and he should be recognized as one of the best fighters of all time

There is talent and skill there.. like hitting a baseball.. yeah the roids and PEDs helped Bonds, McGwire and Sosa hit hundreds of homers, but it didn't hit the ball for them.

I just love how so many of his delusional fans act as if he just dominated everyone he ever faced, reality is he lost 3 out of 5 rounds against Gus and clearly lost to Reyes and personally I thought Santos did more damage and pushed the fight more. So its not like he just whoops everyone not even close.

I think it means you won when the ref raises your hand.

You sure are pretty defensive over something "nobody cares about". You don't even seem to know what cheating means. If you don't want to be called a cheater, maybe don't cheat next time.

Getting mad at a pro athlete for taking steroids is like getting mad at a porn star for taking dick.

Weird comparison sir.

Its a pornstars job to take dick...its against the rules to take steroids.
If Jon wasn't so dumb, he wouldn't have gotten caught so many times.

Funny how one GOAT candidate has more failed tests than anyone in the history of the sport.

I'm scared of the brain that can write that off as just random chance.

These cats will defend cheating to the end of their days sir.

It's just funny to see that the most delusional takes on Sherdog are always about both Fedor and GSP.

Fedor is a fraud in modern MMA and GSP is overrated.

People overlook the timing of his failed tests compared to other GOATs too. They all didn't do much after 2015 besides him.

Jones is actually the most successful GOAT who has consistently fought under strict drug testing. It is worthy remembering that GSP retired barely a month before strict drug testing came in
But he failed multiple drug tests during this strict testing... And no he hasn't fought consistently he's been having plenty of lay offs due to failed drug tests

everyone is on juice....yet 99.9% of ALL drug tests come back clean. it must be easy as fuck to cycle if everyone is on them. they must all have it down except that 0.1% that fail.
im all for pro athletes to take whatever they want but if a rule is in place you must adhere to it. you cannot break the rules with zero consequences. if in fact everyone is on juice, if you fail a drug test then not only are you a dumbass cause you cycled wrong but due to you being a dumbass you are now also labeled a cheater.
follow the rules, if you want juiced fighters lobby for it. i want to see baseballs crushed out of stadiums. with the new pitching change in baseball if they let everyone juice fuckers would be cranking baseballs. even more bases stolen than what is going on this prior year. hell juice and cocaine and you have lawrence taylor. prob the most exciting linebaker you would ever watch play. sports are more exciting with people on juice. but rules are the rules.

Lolwut? GSP didn't fail any drug tests, Jones did. Just lol at trying to give him credit for "fighting under stringent testing" when he failed them.

<36>

It’s crazy to me, too. Jones failed tests, others didn’t. Why is it so complicated? Well, others are probably cheating too, they are just better at it? Fucking stupid.

Maybe, just maybe…the majority of the fighters are clean. OR Jones is just better at others at most facets of MMA except cheating? What sounds reasonable to you?
