The issue is just defining your fellow humans as "illegals." Lots of people violate minor laws and aren't defined by it. It's not a forced choice. It's a decision you make to shrink the sphere of empathy.

Also not correct. We refer to people who murder as murderers, people who rape as rapists-but not just serious crimes. We refer to people arrested for DUI as drunk drivers, people who shoplift as thieves, people whom use drugs as addicts. Nope. Not calling people who sneak into a country “unauthorized immigrants/citizens/workers/asylum seekers/refugees.” They are illegally in this country. They are migrants. They are illegal immigrants. I never said “illegals” because I do think that might have a bit of a bite to it. . Since the start, I have referred to them as illegal immigrants. Because that is exactly what they are. I’m not calling them wetbacks, beaners, or whatever offensive slurs exist. I am describing them perfectly for what they are. It’s not dehumanizing simply because you say it is. It’s not dehumanization because it is true and accurate.

I have seen people say this about him, but I guess I never really paid enough attention to him because I don’t follow conversations that don’t involve me. But you are absolutely correct and I am seeing it first hand.
