Why is Snoop Dogg famous?

Well TS he's sold over 30 million albums and appeared in probably hundreds of singles with artists from many different genres.

He is internationally recognized as a symbol of cannabis/stoner culture.

He'll do absolutely anything for a buck. He's everywhere, working with everyone, all the time. The random person is likely to see him on TV regardless of their demographic.


How do you not know this TS? Couldn't you have just used google? When you were a child, did someone give you lead paint chips and tell you it was candy?
 
You've obviously never listened to Doggystyle. Either that or you don't appreciate rap music. Great rap music. It's a borderline top 10 rap album of all time. He had success with Dr. Dre on The Chronic and the single Deep Cover. He was never the same after Dre stopped producing his music. After that, he became a sidekick, like Nate Dogg. Tupac outshines him by a mile on 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted. Even so, for a year or two he ruled rap - circa 93.

erm, the "elites" are the ones who've been stupid enough to suppress cannabis for decades without good reason and ignoring the effects of prohibition.

A better question would be why is he still famous. You should know why he's famous. He made some hits in the 90s then nearly a decade back, made another one with drop it like it's hot, which kept him famous at that time. The question is, why does he still have the limelight? he still releases music, but it flops. I suppose it's because he's somewhat of a unique character, sort of a living cartoon character, and maybe immature people find him funny. He also keeps himself out there with twitter posts and opinion videos. I guess that's all it takes to remain famous in a culture that makes the kardashians famous for being famous. He's just a divisive racist, but that seems to be okay as long as he's black.

As famous as he is, if you don't get why they are experimenting with him as one of the commentary options for a weekly fightpass broadcast, you are just as thick as the ts maybe even thicker..
 
The whole G Funk era basically blew up because of him. He was heavily featured on The Chronic, then sold millions with his debut album and was on the Dogg Pound album straight after that, this was all within a 3 or 4 year span. I can't stand what he's become now but when he first came out his impact was huge, it's similar to what 50 Cent did about a decade later.

he has a unique style and has catchy songs he has been around as a rapper for nearly 3 decades outlasting other rappers because he knows how to make a song people will like.
