Why is Mighty Mouse criticized for fighting at his proper weight class?

He's simply just better than everybody in that weight class. As fight fans we want the biggest fights so him moving up gives us the chance to see highly competitive matches.

Lets say he beats Cruz and TJ then what? featherweight?

I only want to see him rematch Cruz, I don't critise him for staying at his weight class.

Because no one can escape the "x needs to move up in weight to prove (lmao) themselves" once they have a couple title defenses.

Yup, and its mostly because they want to see them lose. They don't want them to 'challenge themselves.' They want the fighter to collect losses at the higher weight class.

To be honest I dont hear many posters criticize him as much as tey give him the "not my cup of tea" treatment.
But I don't even get that...I'm not the type to think that people have to share my opinions, but I am the type to be interested in understanding other opinions.

So when it comes to MM, I think: "He excels in every facet of M
I'll start making flyers.
I just made another thread. Check that shit out. Say something.

Boo hoo. Not everyone likes MM.

MM needs to grow up, to like 6'1" 170lbs in order for people to care.

I think it has more to do with the majority of of his competition isn't deserving of a shot but the division just isn't that strong so it doesn't take much to get a title fight. His fights are essentially a foregone conclusion with the exception of when he fought Dodson

Sherdog loves bitching about fighters cutting weight and bigger fighters fighting smaller people.

However when it comes to DJ who's SMALLER even at Flyweight people criticize him for not going to Bantamweight. He already went to bantamweight and only lost to the then and current champion, Cruz, all while doing a full time job.

The MMA community literally makes up reasons to criticize or hate DJ. If the community doesn't nut hug a fighter like Mcgregor, they're never satisfied with anything.

Because he's already wiped out the whole weight class. It's way more admirable to challenge yourself than to continually repeat the same trick.

Because there isn't a single champ that doesn't get this BS

Rockhold is a LHW, Jones is a HW as is DC, MM is a BW, Conor is a WW, Ronda/Holly/Miesha need to fight Cyborg at 145 it's all just foolishness. RDA isn't too big but we hear steroid accusations. Cruz is only getting the pass because he just came back but if he puts a win streak together expect to hear about his height and how he should man up and fight Mcgregor. Haters need a reason to say "______ champ isn't that good and here's why"

You are whatever weight you can make and consistently fight at. Size is only an advantage if you know how to make weight properly and use your size to your advantage which all of these fighters do. No fighter needs to change weight classes to prove themselves. I've been guilty of this stuff in the past as well but it's pretty stupid to be honest.

I'd love to see MM fight Cruz again that fight would be awesome and he's already cleaned out his entire division so why not? But he definitely doesn't have to do it to prove anything he's proven he's one of the best fighters of all time already

It is strange. DJ is up there with Jones as P4P #1. I can only assume people can't appreciate his skill just because he's small or they just don't like watching 125Ib fighters.
That, and there really isnt much competition at the 125lb class. I mean, he already beat Dodson twice, who else is he going to fight that is even remotely a threat? Its hard to get excited for a fight when you know he is just going to outclass whoever they put in front of him. Only way i see him getting more popular is if he continues to TKO-ing people. But because of his size, I doubt we will ever see him KO someone out cold.

People want this, which is dumb.

There's been nothing but praise for DJ after last night.
With all due respect. Go through the PBP thread.. it really is bizarre. Many are waking up. Finally. But still some ridiculous shit.

And that thread about shutting get down FLW...Let's see him prove he's p4p there ( 135 ).

Are you kidding me ?

Nobody has to like the guy. But how can people hate on him ?

As I've said before. Nerds are ruthless when they're the bigger human, physically.

True there is no depth to the flyweight division. But being 125Ib doesn't mean they can't be any KO's. The boxer Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez who fought last night has 38 KO's on his record and he fights in the 105lb and 112lb divisions.
