Why is Gustafsson training for Rumble in San Diego?

Let me reverse the question for you then, why didn't he go there for the Manuwa fight?

Cost of plane tickets was higher then. Plus Manuwa is a one-dimensional striker so Gus could train pure boxing/striking with his local camp. Rumble is a more well-rounded fighter so Gus has to bone up on his wrestling. Sorry you needed someone to tell you that.

He's a dual camp fighter, not unlike GSP was for a time, and like Khabib is.

I heard Gus is good friends with Ron Burgundy.

He has spent significant time at Alliance in San Diego. It's a dumb question to ask why he trains at the camp where he trains a lot of the time.

Not that dumb of a question considering he lives in Stockholm, has had camps in Sweden before even when fighting in other countries and he is fighting at home this time. But yeah, answers have been provided for TS, Gus said himself it's partly just to get used to the time and partly to get away from being the centre of attention.

I doubt it. Johnson is very dangerous with his power but so is Manuwa, and Manuwa is quicker and imo even more explosive with his hands. Alex flew in two world-ranked Top 10 GLORY kickboxers to help him prep for Manuwa at his gym in Sweden (AllStars). He takes all of his fights as serious as a top professional would.

Yeah, i'm leaning more towards Gus in this upcoming fight when i think back to the one with Manuwa, as you said, Rumble and Manuwa are not too far apart abilitywise, i guess that would be the wrestling mainly, i don't see Gus taking Rumble down.

Johnson's wrestling is overrated. He's never been an elite level wrestler in MMA much less a really good one. Jones is a much better wrestler in MMA and he was all but shutdown when they fought, so Rumble will have a very hard time trying to wrestle with Gustafsson. Phil Davis had a rough time nearly 5 years ago and that was when Alex was a part-time fighter with mostly just Greco-Roman wrestling training and less Freestyle training.

Rumble may try for a takedown or two to mix things up but it'll likely be a fight mostly contested on the feet.

Troll confirmed, at first i thought you were just a bit bitter, but now i see what you did there ;) took a me a while though.

I thought about the time thing as well, but i did not consider the centre of attention thing, makes sense if that kind of thing would bother him, thanks.

Rumble has better wrestling than Manuwa but Manuwa is more of a striking specialist. Manuwa's standup is more dynamic/varied and is even more brutal, from his leg kicks to his punches. With Manuwa Alex had to be careful about his overhand right and his hooks, including his lead left hook. Manuwa's knees and uppercuts are brutal too, especially if he catches a fighter changing levels, he'll smash them with one of those (he did this to Kingsbury for instance). Manuwa has striking attacks known as a double attack or double threat, so it's intelligent striking based on his opponent's head elevation level and posture.

Actually thinking about it that way, Rumble may be more dangerous on the feet so Gus might be training his wrestling to go for takedowns and keep Rumble guessing. I agree Rumble's wrestling hasn't looked great in MMA but he does have collegiate wrestling credentials and was able to stuff Davis's takedowns (though that doesn't mean much because Davis is kinda bad at that).

You're the troll here. "Why would Gus train at Alliance where he trains for a lot of his fights?" Pretty trollerific line of questioning.
