Why is Dana throwing a tantrum over Merab/Aljo?

I thought maybe Merab was turning down a title fight and Aljo was demanding one but then I checked Twitter:

What's the problem here? Both Aljo and Merab want title fights but are fine with the other guy getting it. Seems like an easy situation to resolve. Either give Aljo a rematch or book Merab for the next title fight. If they book Merab and he beats O'Malley, Aljo will probably move up at that point. What is Dana angry about?

Dana doesn't like when fighters won't fight each other even if there are plenty of other options and he gets tunnel vision and acts really stupid and petty. Whoever doesn't get the title shot can fight Vera, Sandhagen or Cejudo.

Is this his mindset? He wants to give an undeserving guy outside of the top 5 a title shot because of past history with O'Malley and is mad the no 1 and 2 won't fight each other?

He sure don’t like BFFs who say rhey won’t fight each other.

And he will protect OMally as this will make him the most money.

That is his mindset, that’s for sure.

Ok, but neither guy is champion right now, he picked a very odd time to complain about this. I didn't see this complaint when Aljo was champ.

He has literally always hated the concept of teammates refusing to fight each other how is that new to you?

Back in 2008, Fitch, Kos and Swick were all near the top of the WW division and they wouldn't fight one another which created problems with moving the division forward and is how Dan Hardy got a title shot over a lackluster win over Swick. I think that's where Dana's issue with it originated from and as much as I dislike the bald dipshit, I agree with him on that.

Except I don't see any problem here. Aljo and Merab are 1 and 2. They aren't holding up the division and giving either guy a title shot will immediately resolve the situation.

Unless one of them wins, and then the other one will refuse to fight him and potentially keep knocking off valid contenders. So Dana will have to book "undeserving" contenders and then you will complain that Bald Goof is ruining the sport with his handpicked favorites.

That a good point. If Aljo gets the shot and wins, he’s moving up a weight class and Merab can fight whoever for it. If Merab gets the shot and wins, Aljo is moving up. If Dana doesn’t like Merabs opinion and doesn’t think Aljo deserves it, then don’t listen to him and book the Merab fight. We all know Merab deserves it.

Give Merab the title shot and Aljo will move up. The only reason Aljo hasn't moved up is because he thinks there's a possibility of an immediate rematch. Or give Aljo the rematch and win or lose he will move up. Again, there's a very simple solution here.

Unless one of them wins that shot. Then they kinda might be.

Ultimately Dana likes to be lorded, not stood up to or spoken out against.

It makes it harder to come up with a strategy.
Dana wanted to eliminate Aljo OR Merab prior to Sean fighting for the title
There are plenty of options for whoever doesn't get the title shot. Vera, Sandhagen and Cejudo all need opponents.

If Aljo wins he vacates and moves up. If Merab wins Aljo moves up. Either scenario doesn't change things.
