Why is Ariel the only mma journalist that is not afraid to get his hands dirty to get the most out of his job?

And he ruined the plans they had for it that night

That may be the case but it’s irrelevant. Stories get broken all the time and shit goes badly sometimes for some of the people involved. Dana has the power to punish Ariel over it - that’s the only difference between this ‘leak’ and other stories broken in other businesses.

MMA "journalism" is the most useless profession in the history of mankind. People like Helwani are just leeches.

Because he has nothing to lose. Dana hates him. Everyone else pussies out because they want to retain some sort of favor with him. Ariel knows that Dana hates his guts so there's no inhibition to just call it like he sees it

In any other news business that wouldn’t be considered a leak - that was breaking the story. It’s just Dana wasn’t happy about it.
Ariel has admitted he broke the Brock news, that he was only told on the condition he not report it yet as the UFC was going to announce it in 2 hours regardless as a surprise during the broadcast, because Lorenzo got his Fox show cancelled and he wanted revenge so broke anything UFC related he could.

It very much was not business as usual and the UFC rightfully burned him.

It's called a news embargo hunny, look it up.

The shit is completely common in the news industry and people who break them rightfully get burned.

Ariel is a narcissist who saw an opportunity in a niche sport. He thrives off drama and negative attention.
narcissist?

common brah. When someone sees an opportunity, and takes advantage of it, they are usually applauded. Entrepreneurs, inventors, Status setters, Politicians, Explorers, Traders and so on. Are they narcissists because they found an opportunity and both created and gained value?
He does have a knack for the dramatic(and it has both served for and against him)....however, he is also a good journalist for the sport of mma, where is a distinct lack of quality.

It's funny cause it's literally right upfront on his Wikipedia page that Ariel's said before he only went into MMA journalism because nobody else was covering it so he could be #1 easily.

It's why in 20 years you've never once heard Ariel ever actually be able to analyze a fight even at a casual level. The guy knows absolutely nothing about MMA, has no interest in learning so even after all this time, and just covers it because nobody else does.

I've never understood why people shit on Morgan. The entire complaint seems to be he always asks "softballs" like "What was the gameplan going into this fight?"

Tf else you gonna ask fighters? And you don't want to know how a fighter thought they'd overcome X, Y, Z from their opponent?

I love learning gameplanning shit from the fighters after the fight. We'd never know how Jones knew to setup DC for the headkick without these kind of questions.

..because the more his hands are dirty, the more engagement and $$ he gets.

He works his brand pretty well and that is even when he says that he did nothing wrong.

Yeah, that’s just a request. It’s not illegal to simply ignore it hunny.

No. They are actually sociopaths which is worse.

I'm not entirely sure but sports in general don't seem to have the best journalists anyways. At least the sports I follow. The journalists are almost always ass with a few exceptions. In MMA, the exception seems to be Ariel.

News embargo is usually limited to medical, political, & finance. He was being a control freak IMO. Ariel went too far bringing up antisemitism IMO.

Dont get me wrong, I see your point; but another way of looking at it, is he doesn’t go into Stephen A Smith territory. The color commentators and expert analysis is for the X’s & O’s breakdowns. There are countless examples of journalists making Jackasses of themselves by overstepping their qualified limits. Ariel will dupe Stephen Seagal into insulting Joe Rogan, rather than making his own opinion of Jones vs Rampage come off as a technical breakdown. I could picture so many loud mouth ESPN types cutting out the middle man so to speak.
