Why Is Anderson Silva's Power So Underrated Here?

method=get&s=anderson-silva-anthony-fryklund-gif.gif

That was an awesome elbow KO, but the topic seems to be about punching power. Anderson doesn't have a lot of clean punch KOs like the one in that Franklin gif. That seems to affect people's judgment about Anderson's KO power. IMO he can KO people. He just doesn't hit like a truck.

What a strange thread...

There seems to be a trend of one side saying the other is only looking at accuracy and timing, and the other side saying the first side is only looking at power.

When really, everyone is in agreement that Silva has all three (accuracy, timing, power).

Who did he knock unconscious with one punch?

That gif right there with the spinning elbow.

And if he knock out Griffin and Okami with a jab imagine had he hit them with a cross.

Besides that is a dumb question because how many times do we really see fighters become fully unconscious from a punch? Not that often even from the best hitters.

And in a Boxing match he got a KO win from a bodyshot.

You're right. Everyone is in agreement, except one idiot who has clearly discredited timing and precision's role in KOs, and is making the statement of oversimplification that KO=Power and there are no other factors.

Tell that to Chris Leban.

And you cannot rock a dude with a punch while on the ground unless you hit like a truck.

Why are you so passionately trying to defend his power? The results speak for themselves and should allow you to sleep fine at night. The fact that you have to get your panties in such a bunch over this lends more credence to the MINORITY of people that think he has no power.

Why are you so passionately trying to care about how I post on an online forum?

My response is no difference than one responding to someone saying Mike Tyson did not have good head movements or Mark Coleman had mediocre ground and ground.

He's an average puncher. You can tell that his accuracy is the reason he KOs people, even Osmar Luiz Teixeira(the dude who beat him in boxing) said he doesn't hit that hard.

No idiot. I am not discrediting that. I am simply saying that accuracy and timing is not his major factor in his KO/TKO wins. He has pure power. Especially when rocking Sonnen and Hendo with a punch while on the ground. It was pure power. Why are you lying about what I posted?

What I am arguing is that accuracy and timing is not the main reason he gets knock outs. Other Mayweather, James Toney and Hopkins would had been the hardest punchers in the history of combat sports.

And Nick Diaz would had been one of the greatest power puncher in MMA.

Silva was 168 pounds in that fight dude. Are you on drugs?

Btw, tell that to Irvin who got knock out with a punch to the cheek that split his face open. You going to tell me other fighters don't ever get punch in the cheek even when brawling for three rounds?

This post is so dumb, you are either retarded or trolling haha

Nobody underestimates his power. Weidman won't be either when they fight again I'm sure after he embarrassed Silva for clowning around like a fool the first fight. I am very anxious to see what Silva can do at this age coming back from that if he is motivated and hungry for the W.

Cote also said he had been hit much harder in practice than what Silva did. So you are discrediting people who have actually fought Silva and have tons more experience than you.

So you think the people that have fought Silva that say it's his accuracy and speed and not as much his power are lying ro don't know what they are talking about?

Who else has taken out Leben in about 30 secs all from strikes.

I take it all back.

I like you and your feisty support of Mr Silva's awe inspiring power. I'm sure it doesn't pay well but it's for a good cause.

That doesn't mean anything, bro...if you have great power, you will hit hard at any weight. The cheek thing also doesn't mean anything, Lyoto busted bonnar's face up too and he's another average power-great accuracy kind of guy.

I don't think many people discredit anderson in almost any area.

The Franklin punch is part big straight, part overhand. Even Frank Edgar can have knockout power in a punch like that. A jab knockdown is much more impressive than a overhand knockout. Anyone can generate big power in a big swing, the challenge is to generate power while being subtle.

LOL This is the most dumbest assesment I read on here in a way to discredit his power.

Only Sherdoggers came up with this nonsense.

Mayweather is the most accurate and well timed puncher in the world and he does not get as many knock outs because he lacks power. Hopkins is another one and he is of a higher weight class.

Silva has great power. No one can give me a reason why he is not P4P one of the hardest hitters.

I like to see detailed reasons on here on why he does not have as much power. Until then, his performances speaks for itself.

Only on Sherdog folks.
Gotten to.

After reading the entire thread I can confidently say TS is 100% trolling.

Well played sir.
