Why hasn't UFC signed her yet?!

Seeing Irene Aldana maul Peggy Morgan makes me appreciate Larrisa's skills even more!

They did sign her, but it wasBecause she's 19 with a padded record. There's no rush at all. Her last fight she was 8-0 and fought a 2-0 girl with no real pedigree.

They signed her because her record is padded? Dude, that makes no sense.

No no. I was saying they did sign her, but the reason they hadn't was due to the padded record. Lucky for her, they just need people in the division so they picked her up since it was a Brazil card.

I'm sure she's good. She's def got a solid background and you still have to win those record-padding fights.... but her last few fights have been 100% padding.

edit: and btw, there is a logic to signing people with padded records. Look at Dashon Johnson. THey padded this shit out of his record, and then when the Aussie beat him now it's "Oh he defeated previously undefeated Dashon Johnson." Which ignores the part where Dashon's opponents were something like 12-29 with one opponent providing 11 of the wins (11-10).

Valerie Latorneau pulled out, that is how she got the call for this Brazil card.

We will find out how good she is very soon.

Ah, forgot about the drop out. And it's not like I'm rooting against this girl.

I'm just in the business and the more this sport evolves the more you're seeing records like this. I spend a lot of time vetting "level of competition" with fighters, and I'm only at the Ammy level where it really shouldn't matter. At the pro level, there's money to be made in padding properly.

Pacheco might turn out to be the the real thing and beat the brakes off Jessica Andrade and have a successful UFC career but at the same time don't be surprised if she joins Marina Shafir and Veronica Rothenhausler in the competition for the title of hype job of the year.

Ouch.... named two of my girls from Tuff-N-Uff. Not cool bro :icon_chee

Though Rothenhaulser was given a fight WAY out of her league. That's shit matchmaking. And I got in trouble when I called out Marina for hand-picking beatable opponents. They straight-up went over my head to get her specific opponents. So I wasn't surprised what happened to her. I kept telling my boss "The second she gets in there with someone who has good hands in tight, she's done. She reaches low in the clinch and someone with good footwork and boxing is going to knock her out because she folds."

Lizianne Silveira da Conceicao might have only had two fights leading into her fight with Larissa Moreira Pacheco but she is legit. (Edited to add: Lizianne is pretty strong and athletic, has a decent skills set but her technique breaks down as she fights. Sloppy but effective for the most part.) Pacheco has had some of her toughest fights against her last two opponents in Irene Aldana and Lizianne Silveira.

As I pointed out earlier in the thread the UFC had been looking into her already but her manager had wanted her to stick in Brazil longer and face another tough opponent or two as her fights with Aldana and Silveira were tough and she is only 19. She was set to headline one of Jungle Fight cards but finding someone to challenge her was a struggle.

Few people wanted to fight. Although I'd imagine Porto might have been willing to take that fight.

In the end it was the better move to get Pacheco into the UFC, where the competition, and money, is for a Brazilian fighter.

We both saw Marina getting KTFO coming from a mile away. I knew watching her ammy fights that she was going to get brutally KTFO unless she had a iron chin. The problem is Marina doesn't have a iron chin, she has a weak chin.

I still think Pacheco has a bright future, but Jessica Andrade just proved why you shouldn't go full retard when jumping onto a prospect's bandwagon. There is a big difference between racking up a pretty record squashing future waitresses and secretaries in the bush leagues and facing talented, veteran professionals night in and night out. It's the same lesson Andrade got when she signed with the UFC and was smashed by Liz Carmouche. Pacheco has the talent to succeed, but she clearly needs to work on rounding out her game if she wants to do so.

It's funny how Pacheco is treated as this mediocre can crusher. When she's only 19 years old and has looked far more impressive than someone like Correia. Who gets a ton of hype here despite being 31 years old and having beat nobody of note.

Case in point.

Corriea is getting hype because she is getting big wins on the big stage against credible competition. Pacheco has oodles of potential, but as we saw last night, her game still has quite a few holes in it. She doesn't deserve anywhere near the hype as someone like Bethe. In two or three years, she might deserve that kind of hype, but she has a lot of work to do before she gets there.
