Why hasn’t Sammy Gravano been killed yet?

He’s probably the most high-profile rat there is still living. He even has a YouTube channel. If the mob is so scary and dangerous, why haven’t they taken him out yet?

My take is that he is protected, because he was told by the other families to get rid of Gotti, who was bringing too much attention their way with his showboating. They kept him alive out of respect, but he needed to be somewhere he couldn't hurt business.

The mafia is dead because they're all old and don't know how to use the internet.

In today's world the real mafia are all the tech nerds on wall street who find ways to electronically front-run stock purchases

The mob is playing 4D chess. They got the dude under their thumb. He may only have about 130k subs on his YouTube but soon it will be a mil. That’s a good chunk of change. Mob sits on their asses doin’ nuthin’ while raking in the $$$$. Why whack a stream of revenue?

2021 - Michael Franzese converts Sammy Gravano to protestant christianity, and Gravano just happens to drown during the baptism.

Rumor has it he’s been made Don of the entire Italian mafia.

When the bosstones write a song about you it means you are untouchable

He testified in 1993. Imagine everyone that went to prison over him is now dead.

It's also because John Gotti was a double crossing scumbag worse than Sammy so he's getting a pass

Because it's America. He's a celebrity. Any hit would be widely publicized and likely expose any group that was in on it. Not to mention that all of his enemies are dead. I doubt the mob gives a shit. Same with that Micheal Fransese guy. Dude was a capo, who is spilling his guts on Youtube daily. Ain't nobody coming for him either.

The NY Mob has to be really careful whacking people these days, brings a lot of heat, plus murder is much harder to get away with in 2021.

Also the whole membership has changed over since Sammy the Bull was a player (30 years ago). He's irrelevant to the current guard.

Most of the current bosses are actually imports, and were Italian born.

Because everyone he testified against is dead or locked up for life.

He is also a hardened criminal and murderer who is probably pretty hard to out maneuver. High risk, low reward.

I guess there are multiple reason for that, but the easiest pick is nobody hate him enough to call the hit and take the risk of murder an high profile person

Also
- idk if in the USA are still involved in the kind of street game that still call this kind of moves, though they were passed on more almost-legal level were giant chunk of what they have is on non-criminal activities.
I guess murder now is very very limited and only when actually useful and more worth than the spotlight it brings (wich in SG case would be enormous)

-if they operate as they used to, the commission have to authorize it.
If this is the case, is possible the commission seen Gravano actions as ultimately positive in some way, as Gotti made his rise breaking commission rules and after got plenty of spotlight

- Even in Italy, where the orgs are more powerful than ever (maybe not sicilian, but still) these kind of things are rare

Well Camorra did tons few years ago, but they have an horizontal structure made of separated clans, wich may go to war against each other

Ndrangheta is the most powerful and with it's strict organization and incredible low profile rarely do something like that.
Yet it's easily the last one should piss off, what they did in Germany shows that they are ridicolous efficient if they chose somebody have to die

The people running the Italian-American mob these days would have only been qualified to be coffee boys in the old days. They still exist but there has been a serious brain drain. Russians took it over.

Sammy is from a different era. But you never know. They got Whitey Bulger in prison recently and he was 89.

Bulger was transferred from the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City to United States Penitentiary, Hazelton, in West Virginia on October 29, 2018.[20][97] At 8:20 a.m. on October 30, the 89-year-old Bulger[98] was found dead. Bulger was in a wheelchair and had been beaten to death by multiple inmates armed with a sock-wrapped padlock and a shiv. His eyes had nearly been gouged out and his tongue almost cut off;[99][100][101] a law enforcement official described Bulger as "unrecognizable".[96] This was the third homicide at the prison in a 40-day span.[102] Correctional officers had warned Congress just days before the most recent Hazelton death that facilities were being dangerously understaffed.[100] Massachusetts-based mafia hitman Fotios "Freddy" Geas is the primary suspect in orchestrating the killing of Bulger, and has not disputed his role in the murder.[99][103][104] Geas, 51, and his brother were sentenced to life in prison in 2011 for their roles in several violent crimes, including the 2003 killing of Adolfo "Big Al" Bruno, a Genovese crime family boss who was shot in a Springfield, Massachusetts parking lot.[105] According to ABC News, Bulger's medical status had been lowered on October 8, 2018, shortly before he was transferred.[106]
