This has to be the most pointless title fight in combat sport history. The winner of that belt will be able to claim that they are better than one person. Of course Dana will sell it as some huge accomplishment, when all you have to do to fight for that belt is gain a few pounds.

All you have to do to fight for the belt is gain a few pounds, but to win it is a different story.

the belt is meaningless, but the fight is pretty great.

They're just milking Guyborg's drawing power until she pops for peds again

They shouldn't even have weight classes for women. Just have all the women fight regardless of weight. Might even make the divison (open weight womenzz) actually somewhat interesting.

It also applies to wmma as a whole. How many women worlwide do mma anyway? Even fewer than the people who actually want to watch them fight and you can fit all of those inside an average bus.

Belts or not, there hasn´t been a single female in the last 12 years that was able to stop Cyborg in mma.
She´s the best that´s ever been. And the girls don´t want to get their face rearranged. Ask GDR.

Rogan: You´re gonna have to defend you belt against Cyborg next. Give us your thoughts.
GDR: wtf, CYBORG? Ohhh, hummm, I just found out moments ago I won´t be able to defend any belt whatsoever because I have some really serious personal problems I can´t tell anyone of. So here, I´m leaving the belt here, and leaving the division too. Bye.

I agree there is a lot of this recently, they seem to be repeating the mistakes of boxing with more and more titles which mean less and less. It's almost like some boffin has worked out if there's a title bout on a card the buy rate goes up a bit.

I don't get this irrational hate for WMMA. I've found the womens fights to be more entertaining than the regular fights many a time.

It's following the current UFC paradigm; Making money above all.

If you find WMMA genuinely entertaining then all the power to you, but a lot of the hate imo comes from the majority do not find it entertaining to watch, and it's annoying AF that there's 2 bouts on this weekend's main card

Why don't they find it entertaining to watch? Is it because the fights are objectively boring or because people have some kind of bias against it so sit there telling themselves they're going to be bored...

It’s still a 2 person division. If Cyroid wins, she won’ t defend cause no one will challenge her.

So we get WMMA 145 and 125 division, but no men's 165, 175?!?! What is Dana and WME thinking?

That’s cute and all, but Cyroid has never fought anyone even close to as skilled as Holly. She’s getting her head kicked off, my friend.

Nobody will challenge Cyborg if she wins, so probably hard to get more than 2-3 people in the division, but she is a draw, and she deserves a belt, so fine with me.

I don't know why they do it though... they could probably end the 135lb div, and make the girls move up or down.

They aren't thinking, there doesn't seem to be much of a plan in general. Everything is short term and short sighted...

This. They craeted a division for one fighter only. I hope that Cyborg wins by extreme roid rage and scares the shit out of every 135 pounders. No one will dare challenge her, and the division will just fade into oblivion.

Wait, wait, wait, you have Cyborg, Holm, Evinger and GDR. That makes a champion, and three interim champions. Makes sense to me.

There have been plenty of times when a seemingly invincible champ has had a division on lockdown. I'm fine with it it's great to see someone at the top of their game and see the different approaches fighters evolve to beat them. It really moves the sport forward imo.
