Why don't people like DC?

I would put it down to two things.

The vast majority of his fights are boring as hell (he has a few highlight moments, mixed with a massive pile of shit in between) and he acts like a petulant child outside of the cage.

I think it has to do with a few things.

1. He seems kind of childish. The way he reacted when he was being booed and was like "Yea guys boo me. I've been sober my whole life" it all just sounded very desperate like he was saying "Please love me guy!!!".

2. He didn't really earn the belt the way other champions have earned the belt. Not really his fault but it is what it is.

3. He's fat... I don't know anymore reasons honestly.

All the crying. I don't do emotions motherfucker.

I can understand if he's not your favorite. But this guy has accomplished a lot and for the most part has really excelled, did exceptionally well at a higher weight class, mostly been a great sport and role model and mostly in pretty exciting fights.

What's with all the hate exactly?

I don't think it is hate.
But he just don't click with people.

The same way that Jon, despite all that he have done and still does, still have a lot more fans than him.

DC also have his faults, but overall I agree with you. He is a great role model.
But (apparently) just not likeable.

Because he's a poor, hard-working fighter, different than all others.
He never relies on judge scores cards and always try to finish his fights.
And whenever someone goes a mile to save an UFC edition, he does his best to put up a great show and make it happen, he's not a lame fighter like Lauzon.

Seriously, there's nothing wrong with him, there are just a bunch of cops trying to undermine him because he's black.

He comes off as an asshole trying to act like Mr. Niceguy is my opinion of him. Some people seem fake, and he’s one of them. He’s not all bad, and I wouldn’t say I hate him at all. But he’s not the saint some think he is.
The great thing about life is, not everyone has to share the same opinion.

He's boring and cried.

I like him fine. He is a tad whiny and hypocritical but a great fighter. Jones turned the whole division upside down more than once. Hopefully the next Jon Jones learns from this Jon Jones mistakes.

You are TOTALLY an asshole. ;)

Probably a combination of not having an appealing fighting style and being the guy that had a heated rivalry with the guy.

It happens to a lot of fighters. They end up on the wrong side of one of the cult of personality fighters and it never really washes off completely.

DC makes people feel bad for not returning harder in life

I like and respect DC, and have NFI why others feel anything but respect & admiration for the man.

It's a good question TS. People generally like fat jolly guys like Roy and Daniel.

I think it has to do with authenticity though. The fans know that DC didn't beat the best to become champ. People want their champs to have fought the best and they know that Daniel won a vacant belt.

i like him, but he really telegraphs his insecurities. his shit talk against gustafsson was great, while his lack of confidence/insecurity really showed against guys like jones and patrick cummins. no confident person says "you really think i'm gonna sit here and let you kill me?"

I will quote Sherdog radio: DC is like Tim Sylvia. All Tim wanted was to be loved by everyone And be the American hero, but instead everyone ended up hating him. Just like DC. Even Jones haters wanted DC to lose vs Jones.

Great fighter. Mostly exciting too. Just a very bad personality.

I used to like the guy, but after coming to the UFC he has became this drama queen who is offended by anything and pushes too hard. He also feels entitled to greatness. He rubs me the wrong way right now.

Because he is a nice guy and the general rule of thumb is that nice guys finish last, especially when a good percentage of the fan base are Just Bleed/Highlight reel KO addicts

I agree with what Chael said, stop apologizing, steer into it...

DC should embrace the hate and let it wash over him with a smile on his face
