Why doesn't RDA/Conor feel legendary?

It's difficult to go nuts every 3 or 4 months for a fighter. The whole Also buildup cannot be repeated that fast. That, and Aldo was an enigma. RDA lost relatively recently in convincing fashion. He's not cleared out his division at all. And he's dull.

IMO, they scheduled it too quick. Not enough time to build up hype.

I think maybe they were hoping to get Conor fighting quick enough so he's available at UFC 200.

Plus, the UFC has dropped the ball in the marketing hype.

Conor's been too busy hanging out with Charlie Brown to talk shit.

Also because there was no world wide media tour or bad blood.

And also he has no history in the division. He rose up and fought his way to the title which created drama. There is no history at LW.

He also hasnt established himself as a decent champion, most educated fans who train consider him mediocre skill wise.

Bj Penn vs GSP 2 was epic. Two established champions fighting at WW in a rematch. There was bad blood, a media tour and all the essentials to make it epic.

Conor is good, but the UFC is forcing him down everyones throat with a title shot he never earned (for the second time).

wow mate, what the fuck are you doing on sherdog?

Save the 'funny' gifs for when TS makes a fool of himself. That is the unwritten rule, like-hunter.

Cain vs jon jones a year ago would've been legendary. This is a spectacle conor is trying to get it too fast.

Conor has 0 title defenses. RDA has been fucking people up since he lost to Khabib but really that loss wasn't that long ago and was embarrassingly bad for him. In my mind a superfight is when two long reigning, seemingly unbeatable champions meet after they have cleaned out their own divisions. GSP vs Silva would have been the greatest fight of all time and the winner would have been the undisputed GOAT.

Also IMO Frankie deserves a shot at 145 than Conor does at 155, but I commend Conor because he's one of the only guys to have the guts to move up.

Simply put and as has been stated before, RDA is not even remotely a star and he has no fanbase (at least not noteworthy). RDA is a beast but he has zero charisma.

Conor demanded this fight and the UFC gave it to him but they're not promoting it because:

A. They're not sure Conor wins. Why hype a fight that your main star could easily lose.
B. If Conor wins, he will hold the lw belt and vacate fw. The hype picks up where it left off.
C. If Conor loses, he returns to fw still the champ and most casuals won't know or care that he lost.

Because RDA isn't Aldo. Had Pettis won against RDA and defended his title a third time the fight would feel a lot bigger.

That's okay though Conor, super fight and Ronda slayer will sell 1+ million PPV buys. It won't break any all time records.

You are expecting the excitement of say Jon Jones vs Silva or GSP vs Silva. The reason those fights sounded so awesome was because those fighters had held the belt so long and cleaned out their division. There was essentially only the fights left outside of their division that sounded like a challenge for them. When you have 2 fighters at that level of dominance in neighboring weight classes, then it is fun to think about who would win between them. Then you start to think about who should move up or down or should it be at a catchweight. There are so many elements to it that make it appealing.

This is 2 guys with a combined 1 title defense between them. Neither has established themselves as truly dominant in their own weight class and run out of legit challengers.

No touring, inferior promoting, its not called a superfight, RDA is rather a nice bum whos character is uninteresting, feels like one of the Anderson Silva lhw journeys.

because rda is so plain and boring (not as a fighter his persona)

Imagine how much more exciting this fight would be if Conor KOd Edgar and RDA managed to win a rematch against Khabib or took out Ferguson? They rushed this fight to make sure it happened.

And Rondas Pillow lmao!

Dont allow sherdog time to skew your view of the real world bro. Everyone here knows who rda is but outside of mma forums no one knows who he is. Doesnt make sense to try to push him.

Conor barely got a belt and RDA has defended like twice?

I think because RDA has zero charisma, combined with the fact he doesn't match well to Conor's personality in a sense he doesn't react as much as Aldo and seems less phased, plus he speaks English, but badly with a funny accent. (if he was either native English speaker or Brazilian who uses translator would be better).
Basically the worst possible personality to hype this fight.
