Why does soccer not crack down on diving?

Lol. Just watched that opening game. Anyone claiming flopping complaints are overstated is 100% full of shit. Disgraceful.

Don't know what your on about...

The World Cup always brings out the worst in the sport imo.

Fake penalty ruined the fucking game. It reminded me why I stopped watching football in the first place.

The refs falling for that blatant dive is bad, but seriously, the flopping was non-stop. They literally flopped all the time, all game. If this was remotely representative of how this game is played, its fans have been numbed to the level of pussery if they continue to watch.

Too much BS and acting in FIFA soccer.. Kind of cheapens it, makes it less legit. You can just sense the politics and BS at work, and that isn't the way to do sport. Less diving and acting is necessary, because the refs can really influence games picking and choosing what to call and what not to. It's..... Ugly?

Said this YEARS back when I tried getting into soccer/football... use replay when it comes to penalty kicks. That would do WONDERS to stopping this flopping/diving, especially if the flopper gets a yellow card on top of it all.

Dangada is right. It's always worse on the biggest stage, at least from what I can tell. I watched the Euros and it wasn't this bad. Not this bad at the Confederation's Cup. But the World Cup sure brings out the cheating pussies.

Whats a $5000 fine to a player thats making $50 million in change? It's the same in basketball, it doesn't stop players from doing it. What FIFA needs to do is starting handing out suspensions for blatant dives.

Unfortunately all games are like that. Fans don't care about the diving if it works in their teams favor.

So I've been informed, but I didn't see any major flops from their side in that Finals match. Just a bunch of Lebron faces from Ronaldo during the last 15 minutes before the goal in injury time. Someone buy that guy a tampon.

I hope he bleeds out, I really do

Barca has Neymar, Sanchez, Pedro, Mascherano, Busquests, Alba and Alves. Comon now.

Pedro, Alves and Mache haven't flopped much at all lately, tbh. I hate Sanchez's flopping and Neymar is fragile.

Busi makes it an art form.

It's absurd. The NBA cracked down it but they still have work to do. I can at least watch an NBA game now unlike 5 years ago.

I still can't watch soccer. Flopping completely destroys the game.

I find it funny how people who watch the least amount of soccer notice the most amount of flopping.
Methinks most of you just watch Youtube compilations of flopping from the dozens of 90 minute games that go on throughout a week and then say "THIS IS WHY SOCCER SUX" and just repeat that until you feel right about something.

I can only think of a handful of games that have been legit ruined by flops

This; and also people who have never played the sport regularly. The group who rarely, if ever watch other than big cups or people who never play always seem to be the main ones complaining.

Yeah and they don't realize just how clumsy of a sport it is. it's so easy to get lost on the ball and slip. I remember playing mid and going forward, if I didn't get a pass off and somehow made it to the box, I was on my ass very quickly lol
So they equate simple falling into diving. And it's just tactical, most of the time it's over looked. If you ask most of these casual watching haters, every play is a Simeone/Beckham redcard

Who the fuck flops in a pick up game of futbol?

True. A lot of people have become almost fanatical about their anti-diving. Mostly Americans.

In the pre-WC friendlies, I heard the crowd booing Turkish and Nigerian players when they went down holding their legs and trainers had to come in. Problem is, they were LOSING the game and were on the attack, so there was no way it was a time-wasting effort. They were genuinely hurt. But the boos came down hard.

And of course, the World Cup is bringing out the soccer noobs in droves. They're starting to annoy the shit out of me.

All I can tell you is that I watched that game yesterday and the flopping was non-stop. I don't watch highlights and I haven't seen a game in years (probably since last WC), but that game yesterday was atrocious. I feel like soccer fans have just become numbed to it, since they didn't seem to see anything out of the ordinary until the call that decided the game (then it was a problem, lol). It's not just the falling, it's the acting that goes along each and every time. I was worried that the NBA was becoming as bad, but my fear now is that there is a whole new level it's headed for. Basketball is years behind (Chris Paul and D Wade notwithstanding).

And the big intro game for the biggest soccer event in the world just got ruined by flopping.

Huh? Flopping is worse now in the NBA that at any point in history: by a landslide. $5K fines are joke. We're all still waiting on a meaningful crackdown. Hasn't happened, yet. Not even a whiff.
