Why does Luke deserve a fight with Gus?

It's a win-win. Gus actually has to take a fight before being gifted a title shot and we get to see Rockhold knocked out.

well we have a ranking for a reason. You cant just fight the nr 1 contender in a division you never fought. A win makes you the nr 1 contender

no it doesn't. Conor McGregor got finished by Nate Diaz and still his next fight at 155lb was for the championship, even though he was just FINISHED by a guy who is like a gatekeeper at 155lbs.

Because he knows its a fight Gus thinks he will easily win and will want it too. Gus wants an "easy" fight to stay busy while DC vs. Stipe plays out.

He dominated Nate in the rematch and then got his title shot

Forget about Luke, it's not a good fight for Gus. I don't see how fighting Rockhold gets him closer to the belt.

He's blaming his losses on his weight cut..not his chin. It doesn't matter what Luke Deserves..It's good for Gus to get a fight with another big name..since he's faced everyone else and D.C. is tied up. But at this point I don't even know why anyone is still considering Luke to be elite. I keep hoping to see the man that faced Weidman, but I don't think he's coming back. Hopefully he will have another good chapter to his career like Arlovski or Lawler, but they didn't switch weight classes to do it. If he fights Bisping and loses again, he should go full time model

You are right and wrong. The guy completely wiped Conor's victory over Nate out of his memory..the same way Conor haters and Nate did..but that was a real dog fight..he was styling on Nate at first and dominating..but he did not dominate that whole fight..he got tired as usual and Nate certainly got his off

I don't think its smart for Luke to jump up to 205 and fight someone huge like Gus. Luke will be in for a rude awakening when he isn't way bigger than his opponents and his chin isn't great at all.

maybe he can pull a RDA / Kelvin / Whittaker etc and be successful moving up but it didn't seem like the weight cut was what did him in, more just not having the skills to beat his last opponents.

Because LHW is thin and needs this Gus vs Luke fight. LHW used to be the premier division

Rankings and belts don't mean shit anymore, it's not rocket surgery.

A bruised ego will always be a bruised ego, Rockhold is career suicide with this decision.

Gus will kill him.

I'd watch. Fuck it. I'm curious to see how Rock-Hard/Salt handles himself at 205.

Luke Rockhold will say anything to take the back.

Gus wanted the fight first.

Why don't you ask him.

he didn't dominate him, and how is going 1-1 anywhere near a championship caliber run? the point is McGregor has set a precedent and it only makes sense that other people do the same.

of course the match doesn't make sense from a rankings point of view, but like i just pointed out obviously rankings means fuck all now a days.

i didn't completely wipe it from my memory, but beating a guy who just beat you doesn't really mean anything, especially when you squeak out a split decision and the other guy finished you.

and like i said, where Nate was ranked at the time he beat Conor was the point of my argument. how do you go 1-1 with a guy who isn't even in the top 5 but get a title shot? this is nothing new, Gus got the same deal when he got KO'd by Rumble and then fought for the title. i'm simply pointing out everyone asking themselves "how did Rockhold deserve to fight Gus?" shouldn't be asking themselves that because this has been pretty much the norm for UFC for some time now.

Gus is the one who called Luke out.
