It makes zero sense. He has failed at middleweight and has been exposed as too chinny to get to the top. So he runs away from the division and go up a division and straight away asks for the nr 1 contender? More than likely he will get destroyed, but lets say he somehow wins.......he is suddenly ahead of almost every guy in that division straight away.

well we have a ranking for a reason. You cant just fight the nr 1 contender in a division you never fought. A win makes you the nr 1 contender

205 his balls at this point. Reminds me of when GSP fought. Cormier has beated all the top fighters. Gus had a good fights with Cormier but since Cormier is fighting Stipe that leaves little options for Gus to face. I guess he could fight Ozdemir but if Ozdemir wins it knocks off Gus in title contention and no one wants to see Oz fight Cormier again. If Luke moves up and beats Gus he's one of the few that can hang with him and they can promote that Luke was hindered by his weight cut. If Gus wins they can say he beat a former champion (also Cormier's friend and former training partner) and deserves a rematch against Cormier who he had a close fight with. You're thinking logically not logically in terms of money and promotion. This fight makes a lot of sense monetarily

We get matchups like these from the ufc while there’s an article on the front page slamming Bellator for matching up aging fighters. Bellator is using what they have (could be slightly better matchups) and the ufc is supposed to be the #1 org.

You say that as if Glover was mediocre without any good wins. He finished Cirkunov in the 1st round after that loss to Gus.
However, I don't think this would be a bad fight. It's interesting for sure. Everyone knows that these rankings have no meaning anyway.
