Why does Conor not engage in grappling

Pretty straight forward really if you done it yourself. Striking alone is ok, grappling alone is ok. Combining both in attack and defense as well as factoring in cage work, scrambling and getting up off the ground is extremely tiring. Conor loses all striking power if he mixes in grappling with his striking due to his suspect cardio - and that is his weakness. Once the power from his shots diminishes, the chances of him winning greatly diminishes as he is so reliant on one aspect of mma.

Conor doesnt have the gas tank for grappling.
Plus its not like he will have a big advantage in the grappling realm

But looking in hindsight it was better than just constantly taking the leg kicks.
We have seen him grapple for 3 rounds straight without gassing once against Max Holloway at the start of his career though

It will take away his energy for striking. He already gets hit a ton when he is successful.

He out grappled Max and Nate. He also used to grapple prior to coming to the ufc.
he moved alot better at 145. Easier for him to evade takedowns, really light on his feet
