Why do YOU love GSP?

Because he's a fantastic fighter who understood it better than anyone else before him (and still understands it better than most modern fighters) how to combine different martial arts skills - making each one better by incorporating the other - in order to create an MMA skillset that allowed him to beat pretty much any kind of fighter there was - all while having an unusual amount of control over the fight.

On top of that, he's also a gentleman and an absolute role model that represents the sport in the best way possible.

YES MY FRIEND, HE IS SO GREAT!!!!!

As I lived thru the GSP era and enjoyed most of it... there is a good bit a luv and some meh..

Seeing a fighter have such a dominant run an delivering regularly is a pleasure. Sometimes I recall being irritated by his "safer style" but I was less in to the ground game and viewed clinch and grappling a bit differently. Not that I didn't appreciate and respect it but my view changed more from LNP or WNS to "do something" (on the opponent's end) or it's on the ref to separate. Not going much more into that perspective tho as it leads to narrative, etc.

Anyhow GSP will always be a favorite Legacy fighter of mine and "One of" as I don't believe in a single GoaT of anything.

He quit once he realized the extent of how much grease was applied throughout the first 4 rounds. Shame we were robbed of a fair fight.

Also shame we were robbed of the Serra trilogy, Matt had the right to change that fluke rematch.

BJ Penn's corner threw the towel because it was a massacre.

Serra got his ass whooped so bad that a 3rd fight wasn't in the plans after that. GSP simply righted a wrong in the 2nd fight

One of the absolute greatest to ever compete in the sport and didn’t have to be a complete wanker to hype his fights. Just beat people, won and defended titles in dominant fashion. While being a genuinely nice bloke. An ambassador for the sport and let people around the world discover a country called Canada. Only joking Canadian sherbros

I like that he is a guy who wasnt a natural fighter, who devoted himself to learning, and became a master. He's a relatable guy,and youd think that a dude with the body of a God,and a long undefeated streak would just be this arrogant dick, but he was always a pretty nice guy. Pushing the limits of what is possible in this sport. He,Khabib, and Fedor are my top 3. Not just as best fighters, but as people too. All 3 different from each other, but admire them all.

This guy cemented the play it safe strategy.

Great for him.

horrible for the fans.

So why were the buy rates so large? GSP didn't need to stand and bang to draw money.. The receipts speak for themselves.. GSP was a not villain like Floyd, whom a lot were hoping would lose based on personality.. People were buying the event to watch GSP win..

GSP is not the GOAT.

He is a point fighter who ran away after Hendricks beat him up.

Not all the fans.
As a wrestler,I can totally get by with the domination factor.
"cmon gsp let me up,my kids are watching"
Wrestling with your sister does not make you a “wrestler”.

You underestimate the hatred for Good Guy George so yes I am quite certain a lot of people tuned in to see him lose — particularly post-Serra.

Other buy rates were probably the result of Canadian nationalism and your run of the mill men and women who simply thought he looked great in tights.

But yes his PPV numbers were certainly a bit of a head scratcher considering even Torontonians once booed him when he fought Jake Shields.

Because people wanted to see him get slept like Mayweather.

But neither would take many chances and in the end you have a snooze-fest decision.

Are you really that dumb?

GSP didnt have hatred like that at all.
People loved gsp.
Mayweather would purposely antagonize the audience to get that reaction.
GSP was never like that.

I love GSP because he always caught us off guard with his double leg.
Like, the more you knew it was coming the longer it would take, but then no matter how long it took, the very nanosecond you neglected the threat, GSP would hit the power double and run through, and the harder you fought it the long you ended up wasting energy on your way to your back.

No one does it better. No one has ever disguised it nor committed to his striking the way GSP did in order to hit the double leg.
GOAT.

No because he'd need to be an asshole like Floyd.. Play up being the villain to the public.. GSP is the guy women want to bring home to meet Mom..
