Why do women not go for take downs below the waist

Not as many wrestlers in the women’s division. Hardly takes a genius to figure it out. The prominent wrestlers have all been mentioned.

Size is also a factor.

A head an arm throw would not work on a 265lb male regardless of how big the person throwing was, but it will work on a 115lb female.

its basically much easier to get a 115lb female to the ground, even if the person doing it is another 115lb female..

its pretty basic physics, but thats probably about 2 grades above what sherdog can manage

Come on ts would you really want a face full of swetty vagina ?

Tatiana Suarez is a terrific wrestler in the UFC. No one has been able to stop her power doubles. Crazy good compared to the rest of the SW division.
People were saying the same thing, *word for word* about Carla Esparza a few years ago. She was a unstoppable wrestling machine, same as Suarez is being touted.

We know how that train got derailed.

If you notice what most of those fighters have in common, it's a background in amateur wrestling.
My guess is that most male fighters have at least some exposure to amateur wrestling, and so have a leg up on women as far as being exposed to these types of takedowns.
But it is kind of weird, the girls love their head & arm throws.

Bingo. The men's side in MMA is filled with former wrestlers, look at the top 10 in pretty much any division and half of them competed in wrestling before they started MMA. On the women's side you can probably count the all the fighters with a wrestling background on one hand and have fingers left over, you have literally 1 or 2 wrestlers tops in each division.

They are hard to do during a live fight. That sprawl positions sucks to be on the bottom of in mma so I think it’s a fear issue. Believe it or not it’s actually really fearless to dive for takedowns despite it being looked at as a safe strategy. Skill level is obviously a problem too, last night I was confused as to why a bjj world champ didn’t have a double leg let alone a single leg takedown. Miesha is such a better mma grappler in hindsight compared to a lot of girls. At least she gets it
