Weird thing I noticed among some fighters who are otherwise muscular.

because they are human beings and some have bigger chests than others?? Doing bench presses isnt going to make you a better fighter so why waste time on it?

They aren't body builders. A lot of them train for functional strength. Also not everyone has the same build and body structure for beach muscles.

It's not a terrible question.

Apparently pectoral mass isn't all that useful in MMA, but it's not something I would have guessed.

Genetics, maybe their mothers had A Cup.

because training fast twitch fibers nets you no growth.

and big muscles take up too much oxygen.

Slows down punching speed and hinders technique and flexibility

I guess they don't need it so it would just add weight.

Plus different humans have different physiques apparently.

often having broad shoulders take your pecs out of a lot of lifts since your ROM is slightly different. not even mentioning that the muscle is spread over a larger area

its a common thing in bodybuilding, also why super broad buys like jones and gsp have almost no chest

Probably mostly genetics. I have a big chest and scrawny arms/shoulders, and I'm equally lazy about working out any given muscle group. My brother works out much more than I do and has a much smaller chest. Could almost certainly bench more than me too. Go figure.

All those guys' chests are proportional to the muscularity on the rest of their bodies.

How many fighters with huge pecs are great mma fighters?
