Now, every episode is full of political hot button topics-for profit prison corporations are evil, the plight of transgender prisoners, military vets as guards are all corrupt, white supremacists are evil(they are) while all other races of felons are just struggling people who are relatable and worthy of sympathy, solitary confinement is evil, prison overcrowding, the struggle of addicts, etc.

And don't think I am in support of all of those negative topics, or against different view points, but every episode beats you over the head with social inequities, striving to give every inmate redemption stories(except the neo nazis). They try so hard to make previously violent characters sympathetic pity stories.

American History X was a good movie, but it certainly did not make the neo nazis out to be deserving of sympathy. They made violent gang bangers the victims. And I think that movie did the same for curbs in an urban setting as jaws did for beach goers. The curb stomp explains a lot as to why urban youths walk down the middle of the street leaving their sidewalks in near mint condition.
