Why did Till move up the welterweight rankings?

He beat someone higher up the list. Happens all the time.

Tyron Woodley hasn't fought in eons and is considered retired, so everyone moves up the list.

Because wonderboy accepted the fight and the judges said he won.

That's basically it.

So that's the new thing on here? Claiming that fighters miss weight (and lose nearly half their purse) on purpose?

Just revolt like hundreds of other geeks did when Derp missed weight.

Till is fighting for his dream. He is fighting for those who can not fight for themselves. He is trying to raise money for orphans in England. He is truly a great guy

He was not a welterweight in his last fight.

The people voting are assuming he would've performed the same if he had made weight.

It would make no sense to leave his ranking the same, given he beat the number one guy in the division.

He's Ill Darren Till, everyone was too thrilled to see his skill.

Well in the spirit of the thread and general concept...

If you miss weight, you shouldn't be rewarded for it. He gets the win on his record, but he should stay the same in this rankings and have to fight a couple more times to even be considered for a title fight...almost as if the fight never happened...

Has nothing to do with being rewarded, it's about a panel of media members deciding who the best fighters in the division are.

Rankings don't matter

To be fair its his first time ever missing weight. According to reports his girlfriend was hospitalized during his weight cut and he had to go see her in the hospital. I do cut him slack on missing weight but I also agree he should stray exactly where he was in the rankings. He should fight anyone on the top 10 next or rematch Wonderboy.

Nearly half? I thought it was 30%. However, if a fighter can count on the repercussions being limited to one fight's purse, it could very well make sense in the longer run. You take less pay but can claim victory in a high profile fight and now you're closer to a title shot. Somebody like Till, whom the UFC is clearly interested in promoting, has little to worry about.
