I really dont understand why he was so dramatic. At the post fight press conference he said he was perfectly fine walking around normal.
Was that all an Act......
Is he mentally weak....
I know this guy is the UFC poster boy so I expect the ufc and dana nutthuggers to defend him 100%, but that didnt seem like a guy who is tough. Crying about a bruise.....doesnt seem like the type of guy who will stick around very long in this sport imo
Great post, TS! This is something I was wondering! How is it that guys like Corey Hill will snap their leg in half and still keep quietly fighting, guys like GSP and Conor dominate on one leg and guys like Zabit break their hand b4 the fight and do not even say peep. I was sure that O'Malley had a life altering injury in the way he was going on, he was even more dramatic than Andy nearly, and I shocked to see it was only a fucking bruise. Just some really intensely bizarre shit.
So now for Dr Donks' explanation:
I think it was a combination of a bunch of things, but mostly, it was the fact that his adrenalin wore off paired with the fact he was tired. Being a pot head too, and not being able to smoke fight day, means that his serotonin and dopamine levels would be all messed up (akin to stopping a pain medication), so that would additionally amplify his pain. Also being so tired and hurt, if he ended up losing, he would have a built in excuse (esp after two solid rounds) and could save face/the hype train, not to mention it would turn him in to a hero if he won. And finally, as someone else pointed out: he is a millennial that was likely 100% a Bernie Bro and watches The Young Turks.
I just can't for the life of me imagine Saku, Fedor or Hendo putting on a dog and pony show like that, especially in relativity to a bruise. In all my years of watching MMA, I have never seen such a response to such a slight injury.
