Why Did Dana Strip Tony?

If Tony falls out of the fight, Khabib isn't going to fight if the belt isn't on the light. The goal is to have one LW belt after this fight. They can't really give Khabib a belt, and let Tony still be an interim champion.
 
because Tony was only an interim champ and will be out for a while if he needs surgery? Conor was still the official champ

plus Tony is a jerk off for getting hurt 6 days out when this is the 4th time the fight was planned, accident or not

Robert Whitaker got injured and didn't get stripped.

Why didnt they feel that way for the MW division?
 
Because the UFC has decided the belts are unifying on April 7th, regardless of WHO the fuck steps in there.

It's not a slight on Ferguson, but for the love of fuck, the show must go on. I'm tired of LW on hold.

Whitaker became the official champ when GSP vacated it, he wasn't the interim champ

Conor was never stripped. Remember that.

They never strip official champs (unless you are Conor are flat out refuse to defend like what happened with his FW belt)

Interim champs are a different matter

and yeah, UFC make up the rules now anyway

why the fuck is there an interim WW title when Woodley defended like 15 times in the last 2 years?

what if Khabib/Max doesn't happen? they want an official champ

thats basically it. Once Khabib/Max is crowned, Conor is stripped

they probably have a WWE style spectacle planned after the fight where Conor comes into the cage or something

The difference there is that you didn't have the same scenario which is a guy who is 25-0 and been waiting for a title shot for quite some time.
 
He's on the mma hour right now talking like he's gonna come back and defend his belt.
